so the Caps AHL affiliate doesn't have room for Nylander for the past couple of years,
but they DO have room for Souray???

by the way, if it IS a tryout, what do the Caps need with another defenseman that can't play defense?

i worry. when i played with him growing up carlson was always great defensivley.
then in game 7 i see him lagging behind the play on the gwg.

seems to kinda rub off on d men there.

I still think in the long run that this doesn't look good on the Oilers organization...Yes, Souray shouldn't have crapped on the Oilers to the media like he did, but you have to look at the big picture and attempting to attract players to your team (a tough sell at the best of times for Edmonton). Compare this to how Mike Gillis in Vancouver handled the SOB and Hordi situations, at least both those guys have been given fresh starts with NHL teams instead of being buried in the minors.

Even if Lowebellini have to absorb a bad contract in exchange, I think in the long run it paints the organization in a better light. This to me sends the message that if you don't toe the company line, you have a good chance of being sent to the minors. Besides, they still have a boatload of cap space, what are they saving it for?

maybe Im giving Lowe too much leeway on this but I just think (and I dont know for sure so it might be unwarranted) that Souray must have done more, maybe in the lockerroom, than just chirp off with the media. And since I believe this, i cant blame them for not wanting Souray around their young players ... its a hard road to take but theyve gone that direction

/also someone verify something for me if you can ... I heard someone say that the Lowe Burke fued is water under the bridge now ... that Lowe reached out to Burke when his son died last year???

That could very well be true, and I agree that you wouldn't want a player like that around your young players - Having said that, it still makes me wonder how hard the Oilers tried to trade Souray (pretty much a given that nobody was going to pick him up on waivers). How difficult is it to put a player on re-entry waivers when you've loaned him to another team's AHL affliate?
