Murray needs to look in the mirror. Any team that loses Beauchemin, Pronger & Niedermayer can't afford to let a player like Wisniewski go. Lyudmin was a nice signing. Sutton was hurt 2 out of three years in L.I. so I could have told him an injury was coming. Signing Lilja was out of desparation. The Jason Blake experiment hasn't worked out. Though I completely understood why he made the trade with Toronto at the time.

I know one thing Koivu & Selanne would help a lot of teams right now & at the deadline.

He seemed to know the direction the franchise was heading and made his moves accordingly when he took over... nabbing Wiz for Pahlson, trading Pronger for Sbisa and picks. It was obvious the cap was going to kill them and they needed to retool the defense. But the last few months have been inexplicable.

The forgotten part of the Pronger trade is Joffrey Lupol. Since coming back to Anaheim he's only played a handful of games. Joffrey had to have back surgery. He's still nowhere near ready to come back. Murray should have asked for somebody else. Granted I don't think Philly would have parted with Sbisa & Giroux or JVR in the same trade but Hartnell or Gagne would have been a lot better than Lupol. It would have also given the Flyers some flexability under the cap.

As it stands right now the Flyers won that trade big time but we don't know whether the two 1st round picks Philly gave up will pan out yet.
