Carlyle was miffed that the Sharks still had their big stars on the ice for a 5-on-3 power play late in the second period that the Ducks miraclously killed off.

“It was 5-0 and you’ve got Joe Thornton and you got Patrick Marleau and you’ve got Heatley and you’ve got Boyle and you’ve got [Joe] Pavelski on the ice,” he said. ”People don’t forget those things.”

I know the Sutter brothers haven't received the memo, but no lead is safe in the NHL anymore. How about trying to stop the other team from scoring (yes, I'm looking again at the Sutters as well).

LOL, Carlyle is just mad because his coaching bloom is starting to wear off. Hey Randy, it's a lot harder to coach in the NHL when your top 3 isn't Niedermeyer, Pronger, and Beauchemin isn't it?

Besides, what are you guys going to do? You got in 5 fights and lost most of them last night. Give me a break.

If this were pee-wee or high school or something like that, I could understand this. But this is the NHL, and these players are professionals. In my opinion, running up the score doesn't happen in professional sports, one team sucking at stopping the other is all that happens.

I actually think Carlysle is a good coach, he's basically got a good goaltender, a good top line, and then a bunch of stuff. Not much to work with. However, he's always looked like a whiny little elf.

Also, I tried to rep almost everyone in the thread but it says I have to spread my legs around or something.

filo: the "fight, spear, hack, and rough" strategy isn't working so hot for this team anymore.

ww: since the season started? you mean for his entire career as a head coach?

puck: amen brother. couldn't have said it better myself.

I hate the Ducks...and I would really like to give Brian Hayward a nice kick to the ribs.

I feel better now.

The Ducks had a stange offseason. I still can't figure out why a team that is desparate for defensemen would trade Wisniewski for a 3rd round pick. They should have accepted the 3.25 million dollar ruling & been happy to have a top pairing D-man.

I was watching the Sharks/Ducks game on Saturday and Marleau had just gotten around Lilja and was on a semi-breakaway and wristed a shot past McBackup. Hayward called it a "seeing-eye" shot. I just started laughing when he said that.

My eyes seen it go in as well, Brian...

/Came across a vintage 1985 Smythe division playoff game on the NHL network this weekend (Oilers - Jets at the Winnipeg arena). Two observations:

1. The Jets had (and probably would still have) some of the best fans in the league.
2. How Brian Hayward became a NHL goalie is amazing (because he stunk).

QFT.

This is the pros. If you don't like what they are doing, THEN STOP THEM FROM DOING IT! Everyone out there gets paid a lot of money to do what they do. Something tells me that if the Ducks had a 5 on 3 while being down 5-0, they'd have their big guns out there as well. And if that is the case, then pipe down hypocrite.

If it were the Redwings, I'd demand that we have our top line out there on a 5 on 3. We couldn't score in that situation to save our asses last year.

The Ducks basically have 5 forwards. There defense needs some help & that might actually be kind. Hiller has to stand on his head with all the chances the opposing team gets every night. It's certainly not a good recipe for success. None of this is an excuse for the coach to whine & cry. There are definately worse teams in the league. Carlyle should have kept his mouth shut to the media. However it is good message board fodder.

You had to know this was coming - The vote of confidence from GM Bob Murray:

I’ve got total faith in Randy. He’s won a Stanley Cup. That’s not an issue here. It’s up to the players. Enough excuses. Talking about coaches and things gives them an excuse when they have no excuses in my eye.”
