Brynas IF hockey club won its first SEL title since 1999.

Senators 2009 draft pick Jakob Silfverberg backed up his regular season MVP by winning the MVP of the playoffs. He broke Daniel Alfredsson's league record (set during the lockout) for most goals in a playoff year with 13.

Can't wait to see this kid in a Sens uniform next year.

the guy that writes for the flyers (and also europe, and the stars) on hockeybuzz (bill metzler) was raving about him the whole tournament

guy knows what he's talkin about so i think you guys have somethin special coming.. metzler said the one thing you may have to worry about is he goes down pretty easy, he'll need to work on that in the NHL.. but from his all his accounts, and those that he interviewed (forseberg), the kid is gunna be a stud

I believe that Frolunda lost to Brynas in the quarters. Don't know about Pyorala.

I can't wait either. You have to be a special player to win MVP both in the season and during the playoffs. The thing that I'm most excited about though, is his wrist shot. I mean, it's absolutely deadly and I saw his goal in the clinching game and my jaw dropped. He pretty much beat the goalie from 40 feet out and the goalie didn't even really react. It just flat out beat him and that's something you cannot teach. But on top of that he's also a really smart player.

I read the same article awaz did and Forsberg was very complimentary of Silfverberg. He basically said that this guy has a shot on par with Steven Stamkos and he's a future can't miss star in the NHL. Normally I would take that kind of statement with a grain of salt but being Peter Forsberg it's something I have to take seriously.

Now, I have heard people compare this situation to the Rundblad one last year. The difference though, is that Rundblad is a defensemen and Silfverberg is a forward. The transition from the Swedish league to the NHL is much, much easier for a forward. I don't think you'll find many scouts that disagree on that. But the "flaws" in Rundblad's game were maybe not as obvious on the bigger ice surface as they would be in the NHL. In the Swedish league, you don't get hit very often and you have much more time to make decisions with the puck. With Rundblad, that's the biggest thing. He's got amazing skill and if he ever figures it out then I have no doubt he will be a star one day too but that obviously has not happened yet. Anyway, that's what a defensemen has to deal with but a forward obviously doesn't deal with NHL forechecks straight on like defensemen do. He'll be able to play a very similar game to the one he played in the Swedish league and have success with it. There will be little things he has to adjust, obviously, but it will happen much quicker for him then Rundblad and that's something I'm certain of.

The biggest adjustment for him will be the speed of the game. It's even faster come playoff time.

Bingo and that's why I don't know if it's a good idea to throw him into the fire so quickly. Yeah, I bet the games in the playoffs over in Sweden were intense but nothing like the NHL playoffs. He's coming off a major high right now. Let him hang around the team, watch some of the games live and learn from it. Then he can train and prepare for it over the summer.
