Yes they did.....and so many other bands did too back then.
In fact...the cover art became somewhat of a huge aspect for the buyer...regardless of the type of music.
I still have a bunch of albums I bought based on the cover art, although they only contained 1 or 2 and sometimes even in a few cases had none of the songs I really cared for.

Not to mention all the liner notes and inside cover art w/ pullouts, posters & pics included.
Those days are mostly gone now.

It was shiny silver and shaped round like a big coin.
