So Eklund is saying a rumor of the Nash/Mason combo is surfacing.

The thing that scares me is he says he doesn't believe, but it was just a rumor. Since it is not an e5, it is probably true.

If they for some reason would take bryz off of our hands, I would pay a King's ransom.

W're still taking in more $ then we're giving up and we're sacrificing 2 1st, plus resigning Jagr(and losing JVR who will be a 60-70pt a yr guy at least)all while not getting better on defense. That's an awfully steep price to pay. The only way I could see that working is if we were going to flip him/them to Tor in which case I'd ask a kings ransom Schenn, Franson, Colborne & a 1st(if either transom or colborne are withheld then 2 1st). Nash, Carle & Mason to Tor for Schenn, Franson, Colborne, Reimer & a 1st.

I'm being optimistic.

Jagr might be bye bye after this year. That or cut his pay in half. With being so close to the cap and needing a dman, it could be tough resigning him.

Then 4 for 7.8 for the forwards. (edit thats 4 for next year, only like 1.6 for this year)

Not much of a difference there. If I'm CBJ and trading a franchise player, I want to get guaranteed value in return if I'm going to bring in the same salary as I'm sending out. - Edit: I guess since JvR is cheap this year, we are taking in an extra 2-3 mil.

I think this favors us. I don't see them doing it, but I would kill for the Nash/Mason for Jvr/Bryz/1st deal

If 2 firsts gets it done, then so be it.

We have Carle's contract expiring. He's gone. That money can be spent elsewhere. If we LTIR Pronger, then we are fine. If Pronger tries to make a return and affects our cap, then we are screwed.
