Norman was a different situation. He was an all-pro...not a pro-bowler. He became available after everybody else blew their loads, so he came cheaper.

Not one of the guys mentioned so far is under 30 and an all-around. These are all guys who will be overpaid because they are the best in their systems in this FA class.

Nah, I'm not referring to the list in this thread. Berry is 28, Jefferson is like 25, Leary is 27 or 28. Those are the guys I want. We really don't need but one or two really good free agents. We have a 1, 2, 3, two 4's, and two 5's this year.

I get it but those guys are in line to get overpaid. They have been good in their respective systems, not great. FAs from other teams seldom workout like what you are paying them. Of the guys mentioned, only Berry is mentioned in the top tier of their positions and I question if that is play related or story related.

I like Pryor too and if we are just dead set in moving on from jax and/or Garçon, that wouldn't hurt my feelings.

I've heard pundits talk about Pryor being on the cusp of being an elite threat.

Still rather resign everyone on offense, draft d-line and sign two safties.

How do you do that?

We have over 46 million in cap space. I think it's safe to say that Lich, Lauvao, Paul, Nacho, Bruton, etc....aren't coming back. I know those guys don't make much but there will be veteran cuts.

Resigning Kirk should bring his cap hit for next year way down. Big signing bonus and a long term deal should help lower his cap number for 17 at least.

Of course if Jax, and Garçon both come back looking for elite money will we most likely have to choose between the two of them.

look i dont think garcon or djax will garner more then 5-6 mil a piece on the open market so signing one and investing in a young pryor could be worth it

Those guys do not make much, but you still have to replace them.

KC is a given...he will be expensive.

You said resign all our offensive guys, so I assumed you were wanting to bring both back, while wanting to sign two starting safeties.

I guess I'm just partial to both if them. I realize they are both hitting 30 this year and next. I just love how Jax opens things up for everyone and must be accounted for on every play.

I love Garçon's toughness and dependability and he just feels lije a core Redskin. Don't want to make the same mistake we made with guys like Ryan Clark, Antonio Pierce, etc.....

I will admit, Pryor was having his way with Norman for a half and is much younger.

I want to bring back Davis too. I think with 46 mil and the 4th or 5th most space available we should be able to get a couple of safeties in here. If not just mix and match. Sign a run stuffing fat boy on the cheap and draft a S in the 2nd.

Bottom line is that we have some massive holes to fill on defense. While we do have a ton of cap room, we will have the following needs going into 2017. In no order:

WR (#1)
WR (#2) possibly unless Crowder stays in the slot
DL (NT)
DE
SS
FS
ILB

That is 7 positions where starters are needed. 50 million will not sign all of those players obviously. I prefer to build through the draft of course. Hopefully we can find some starters in the draft. That being said, we will need at least 4 starters via free agency unless we have the draft of a lifetime. I would prefer we use as little as the cap as possible but there will be no way around it. Our DLine and Safety corps is a disaster at this time.

I got us at around $56 million in cap space before any cuts. Hall and Litch will bring us up to $63 million. This also figures we only roll over $10 million of the $15 million in cap space we have this year. So lets split the difference and say we roll over $12.5 million, cut Hall and Litch. So around $66.5 million

As for the players needed....

WR 1 I think we resign Garcon
WR 2 We drafted Doctson for a reason
WR 3 Crowder in the Slot

DL NT... yea this has to be addressed.. but might come in the draft ( I hope so any way)
DE Draf maybe as well
SS This might come from one of the young guys we currently have on roster
FS Also might come from one of the young guys on roster
ILB Spaight maybe, otherwise FA.

And that is what is frustrating. We made no real attempt to address the DLine. Drafting a 5th rounder and signing journeymen doesn't really count I feel. You build the LOS first but we have neglected to do that on the defense. While I liked the Bruton signing for SS, the FS position is a disaster and we need an upgrade at the SS spot.

Does anybody know the story with development of Spaight this year? I thought I heard Cravens didn't have the speed to be a sideline-to-sideline safety, so maybe he could be an option at ILB as well. He certainly has been impressive on 3rd downs and when being used as a spy for QBs (Rodgers, Prescott).

I expect we will roll over about $12.5 million. So we should have closer to $58 million before cuts. Figure HAll and Litch to be gone, bringing us up to around $63-65 million in cap space.

Kirk is going to take minimum $15 million in cap space, Baker probably $10m or so....

So way I figure it, we will be working with $40 million after resigning Kirk and Baker.

Problem is, we cant really afford to resign Garcon and Jackson both.

HAvent heard much on Spaight. I think Cravens will settle in and become one of our ILBs. But we are still forked as far as the safety position goes.
