So...uh...we're 9th in Points Allowed out of all the teams in the NBA

We were 26 out of 30 last season. Is that good? Are we satisfied with that?

Short answer: no.

No, not at all. Total points scored doesn't really reflect how bad our offense has been. You see, teams haven't been scoring as much on us because we've a long, drawn-out offense. We've been getting shots off late consistently, and playing at a snail's pace, so of course teams won't be scoring as much.

A much better representation is Points Per Posession. We're 18th this year in it compared to 30th (last) last season. 18th is still below average. We have a mediocre defense.

Our offense in Points per posession went from 20th last year to 27th this year, we also rank 13th in most turnovers.

So we have a piss-poor offense and a mediocre-at-best defense. At least when we had an exciting offense and no defense we were more interesting.

So fuck no, I'm not happy with being 9th in least points allowed.

yup douby sums it up, who cares if you allow 70 points if you score 50. Its just the league rigging against us though and doing it by different method year to year depending on the coach. Jay was known as an offensive coach so the refs rigged against while letting the scores get big. Now with casey known as defensive minded there rigging with the low scoring games.


oh wait, i'm just paranoid. Clearly losing reggie evans and money weems mean this roster can't score worth a shit anymore

Very good point, MDP. Also, I agree with dafan with us tanking, so all of this discussion is a moot point. For argument's sake though, I'll also throw another stat at you wizards. We're 6th in limiting opponent's FG% in comparison to 27th last season. As opposed to points in general, FG% measure how bad opponents are owning us on every shot. Poon Machine defensive shut down specialist?

If I had to take a guess as to why/how this is, I'd say that better inside defensive rotations are keeping teams out of the paint. The problem is that we are giving up too many open 3 attempts fro people drive and kicking on us. That's why FG% is better, but PPP is still God awful.

In that case, I'd say we've improved, as i said earlier. Our defense has gotten better, no doubt, it's a step in the right direction, but how much better is it? And why is our offense so bad?
