So, Howard tells Rockets he wants a 3rd superstar?

"Either drop your "assumptions" which clearly are intended to bring about your desired outcome or the discussion isn't worth having!!"

I made 2 assumption. Not because they are my desired outcome, but because they are 100% LOGICAL as of today.
That were: Kobe remains a Laker and earns 7-10M, and that James, who is living out his dreams in Miami so far doesn't leave in 12 months.
Neither is a reach or far fetched. They are LOGICAL assumptions.

You thinking Nash will sacrifice 10M is where the reaching begins.
There is a MUCH higher chance that Kobe isn't back in 2014 vs Nash retiring.

Even if Kobe is off the books, without including James on your roster, you cant build a contender with that 65M that is left over.
Take Bosh, Wade (who more then likely won't opt out) out the equation+ James, and who is left on this great FA list?
Carmello? LOL.

The problem with trying to project out to next season is that we don't know what the Lakers or any team is likely to do until we see how next season plays out.

Gee that comment sounds awfully rational coming from a Lakers fan, what's wrong with you TrojanFan?! All Lakers fans are supposed to be doubters, haters, and stupid. You just broke that mold, LOL. Seems as if there are a bunch of gypsies on this board that can predict the Lakers' future, ha ha ha.

Either drop your "assumptions" which clearly are intended to bring about your desired outcome or the discussion isn't worth having!!

Good luck trying to convince with this statement....

Another option would be for the Lakers to start the process in the 2014 class and then finish in the 2015 class of free agents. Lots of possibilities!!

Imagine the Lakers' possibilities with their cache and cash from TWC deal....the haters know this so they're always looking to find any doomsday scenario for us, funny shit.

don't you cats get it? these clowns are all about doom and gloom because they want Lakers fans to give up and despair. pretty obvious from where I sit...

If your objective is to wait for the season to end before entering discussion about what the probable scenarios are, then why post here at all until next season ends?

As of now, my scenario makes sense and yours is built on hopes.
Im not saying either is correct, but it still goes back to the same thing, and that was me defending my position on why I felt the Lakers will struggle for at least a few seasons

Latest twitter rumors are that Dwight is leaning to Houston.......no surprise there.

That is where I figure he will end up. Atlanta aint gonna front the dough necessary to get him, as usual.

You could very well be right!! Jack Nicholson has already called him (love Dwight or hate him, how cool is that?) and execs from Time-Warner are supposed to be there as well to talk to him about doing something for them in the off-season which could lead to more money in his pockets!!

I read somewhere that the twc show could be considered tampering if they offer him compensation for the show due to their connection with the Lakers. Haven't been able to find a link, but I read it somewhere within the last day or two.

Laker fans should never give up. Traditionally you guys are usually a highlight of a franchise.

Me personally I am interested in how the Lakers will rebuild with the roadblocks they have and be contenders in the next few years.

lol, man you are REALLY hating on the Hawks right now...

Just telling you the truth, man.

Hawks had a shot at Lebron. Did they even try to get into the bidding war? Heck NO, they don't want to spend the money necessary to get a superstar.

Hawks now have a good shot at Dwight. I'll be willing to bet they haven't even made his agent any offers. The Hawks front office and ownership SUCKS.

Give us some time and we'll run them out of town, too, right behind the Flames.

Dwight: You're going to have ask me nicely.

Jack: Fuck You, you piece of shit.

What cracks me up is LA making a pitch at ALL.

It's Los Angeles......between the city, the pedigree, the rings......what is there to sell? Begging Howard to resign is an all time low. Dallas and Houston HAVE TO sell their franchises/city, LA does not.

On Spo:

Clearly, the guy can coach!! Is he on a Phil Jackson/Pop level yet? No. But that doesn't mean he can't or won't get there.

I think that the reason he doesn't get the respect that Heat fans feel he deserves is it is looked at as him being pulled from the video room and handed the "keys to the kingdom"!! Guess what? Early in his career, Riley was looked at in much the same way. A young coach who was pulled from the announcers booth and handed the "keys to the kingdom".

The proof is in what they do with the oppurtunity. Like Riley, Spoelstra seems to be making the most of his opportunity and may very well end up being talked about in the same breath as Phil, Riley and Pop (among others)!!

Spo has plenty of years left to polish his resume!! Maybe we can let him get a few more under his belt before worrying about his ranking!!

Also, as Phil Jackson has shown, when you get a team with the star power and talent that the Heat have, how well the coach handles the ego's in the locker room can say alot about whether or not a team can win a championship!!

BINGO!

lol, here's where I can't even pretend to argue with ya, man. that guy was ALL class. nothing but ups to that cat...
Zo was all class? The guy who refused to report to Toronto after being traded to them??

You cry about what James puts out on Twitter. I could only imagine how you'd feel if James did what Zo did towards the end of his career.

They were talking about this on the radio as I was driving home and said it's perfectly legal. Comcast was in the meeting with Houston and made basically the same offer. The only real difference is that Time-Warner is bigger than Comcast meaning more exposure for Dwight!!

What "roadblocks"? The roadblock of having everyone except Nash coming off the books after next season giving the Lakers "enormous financial flexibility" (according to Mitch Kupchak)? The roadblock of the $5 billion Time-Warner deal? The roadblock of great weather and all of the access to film, t.v., music, etc. that players have much easier access to being in L.A.?

What roadblocks? Is there a fat Laker girl or something? :becky:

League source:

The NBA has no problem w/ TWC being part of the Laker's pitch for Dwight, so long as no extra compensation is promised.

"They could simply be presenting ideas about how they plan to cover Howard and the Lakers in the future," said the source. "That's allowed"

Yeah, the speculation as far as it leading to more money seemed to be about him having a show and it leading to other t.v. opportunities outside of Time-Warner!!

Also, they could pitch opportunities for after he retires. For example, James Worthy is on a pre and post game show on TWC!!
