So, Howard tells Rockets he wants a 3rd superstar?

What exactly are the benefits of being a true fan? Do you get free tickets to the game or something? Do you get residual income based on how well the team does? If not then I'm laughing at you for actually thinking you are better than me because you support an organization that could care less if you died right now. I'm a fan all right. I just chose to be fanatic about my family and helping others. Priorities. You might want to get some.

So are you another moron that really thinks that you being a "true fan" somehow makes you better? Sorry to bust your bubble. Anyone that honestly thinks they have some moral advantage because they support someone that doesnt know them is :lame:

disagree. anyone who's allegiance changes at the drop of a hat is the one who TRULY has some issues. there'd be a SERIOUS question of resolve imo from a fan like that...

no one's saying put sports above family, business, etc. but to say there's nothing to being a true fan simply doesn't get it...

I would agree that anyone that changes allegiance at the drop of a hat has an issue. I dont have an allegiances to people based on sports. Dont get me wrong. I root for people/teams but I would never think somehow I was superior to someone else because they had a different view on being a fan. People that come with that true fan crap as some kind of put down are lame.

Like I said anyone who has "2" favorite teams in any sport isnt a true fan. I bleed the colors of my teams no matter how good or bad. Any die hard fan of any team will agree with this. Those who support multiple teams in my eyes are not on the same level when it comes to debating sports.

Well actually you said I dont have any cred but OK. My point being that I dont have to be a "true fan" to have a handle on reality. The reality is that not 1 team is going to take you up on your suggestion that Howard be blackballed from the NBA. He is too big of an asset. If you dont get that then I feel sorry for you. Good for you that you bleed your team colors. Good luck with that.

You're taking it to the extreme, man. Making it sound like it's a sin to have a rooting interest when your team isn't one of the 2 playing.

When my team is eliminated, there's always a team I'll choose to root for. Doesn't make me less of a fan because I choose to do that.

By 3rd "star", I hope he's not encouraging the Rockets to sign Josh Smith. If so, the Rockets should just end talks and walk away. Smith and Howard are friends and both have poor work ethics. Putting them on the same team will essentially guarantee you 4 years of them goofing off together while they destroy your cap room. Pursue one, but not both.

You are wasting your time. You are debating with people who will pretend what happened in the past is more fun, entertaining or meaningful then what us going on now, just because their team is mediocre now.

It is great to be a fan and support a team, etc, etc, etc, but it is nonsensical for Laker fans to even try to counter what the Heat are currently doing by throwing out past statistics which include success from some team called the Lakers that played in Minneapolis 50-60 years ago.

Most people follow sports for the current entertainment value and the adrenalin rush you get each night watching the games and the hopes you get that your team can win that current season.

Nobody gathers around the TV to watch films of seasons from years ago when they already know the results.

The players we cheer for one year, we often cheer against the next year because they switched teams.
What is boils down to us that we will root for whatever bodies fill the inside of the jerseys of the team with the cities name on it that we like.

At the end of the day, hopefully all of us will leave behind a legacy that was a whole lot more substantial then saying we were a great fan to a bunch of strangers who could care less if we live or die.

I don't have a problem with people being die hard fans but its funny as hell that they really think they know more about basketball or are somehow more credible because they "bleed" their teams colors. WTF does that mean anyway? Does that mean you cant get a blood transfusion from anyone except a fan of your team?

What exactly have the Heat done? The Spurs lost game 6 the Heat didnt win it.
Are the Heat a good team? Yes. Are they one of the best teams ever? Not even in the top 10 in history

naturally Turnip's gonna come at it that way because he's CHANGED jerseys before as a fan(Cavs to Heat). so that's HILARIOUS coming from him. btw, I've noticed that the guy talks more about the Lakers than ANY other team in the league. that where he plans to bandwagon onto next? we don't want him...

Its called loyalty to 1 team thru thick and thin.

Ive never understood "fans" who support more then 1 team thru a season. Sure after your team is booted I can see "going" for another team. But at the start of a season to have "2" teams I will never understand

Uh, the person that said that is raptor4life and he doesn't have the Lakers in his teams under his avi, this would seem to indicate that he is not a Laker fan, moron!! It's comments like this that show that Laker fans are in your head and kill your credibility even among Heat fans!!

Also, only fans whose teams have no history claim that history doesn't matter!! Past history is a good predictor of future actions. Since the Lakers have so many championships in their past history, it would be a good indicator that they will do what is necessary to win more in the future!!

You saying the Spurs lost game 6 vs the Heat winning is every bit as lame as Heat fans saying they lost game 2 vs Dallas vs giving Dallas credit for not giving up and finding a way to come back and win.

Now , what have the Heat done? How about become the most fun, exciting team to watch in any team sports for the last 3 years. They find a way to entertain their fans almost every night, without exception.
Winning back to back championships doesn't hurt anything either.

Your understanding is not a requirement nor is it important in the grand scheme of things. Just accept the fact that people think differently than you do. Doesn't make them smarter or less intelligent.
