First Im shocked yet pleased we released Joe Barry. As a Person he was cool he one time I met him. But as a DC, IM not sure what the hell he was trying to create.

That out of the way, Some are speculating we get Steve Wilks secondary coach from Carolina.

If thats the case, I think the move back to a 4-3 is likely to follow. And For Coach, if Bradley is the guy I also think a 4-3 might be the move.

LBS Gallette, Compton and IM not sure

D-line Murphy, (draft Pick) Baker and Kerrigan

I'd be excited to see a switch to a 4-3 especially since we are better suited for that scheme, and continue to neglect getting players that fit in our base 3-4.

I like Kbso83432's mock idea, here are my thoughts too.

4-3 mock line-up

LE:Kerrigan DT:Baker DT: Free Agent RE: Murphy
OLB: P.Smith MLB:FA OLB: Cravens
CB: Norman CB: Breeland
FS: Pick#17
SS:FA

3-4 mock

DE Baker, 2nd Round pick
NT: FA
OLBs Kerrigan/Murphy
ILBs FA/Compton
FS: 1st round pick
SS: Cravens

If I remember correctly in a 4-3, all of the linebackers need to be able to tackle well
and at least 2 need to be solid in man and zone, the other needs to be able to create pressure and play decent zone. The front 4 should create much more pressure than what we've seen out of our current scheme.

IM thinking Craves should be at SS no matter which scheme we run

I like Dontari Poe or Bennie Logan to fill in as a run-stuffing DT/NT. Pair him with a d-lineman in the draft and a re-upped Chris Baker, and you've got a pretty good 3-4 line. Poe and Logan will be available since both KC and Philly are both cash-strapped. And, as a side note, because Philly is short on cash, not sure how they'd be able to sign D-Jax to a contract that he wants. They can make some moves to clear space for him, but with needs at other spots on their team (and, yes, WR is a need), D-Jax is far more a luxury at the price he'll be seeking than he is filling a need.

Like this mock however, not sure Kerrigan can handle OLB duties in a 4-3 defense. Better suited with his hand in the dirt rushing the passer as he is awful in space/coverage. Move him to DE w/Murphy and add FA to OLB.

As for your 3-4, any defense that includes Compton or Foster at MLB is void. Not going to happen because whether or not either had a bundle of tackles, neither are starters in today's NFL. I like where your going though.

That probably will be his ultimate destination. I just thought he played great near the LOS.
And in the 4-3, he'd take much less abuse and baptisms from the offensive linemen.

I think Compton is better than you give him credit for. IN a 3-4, the D-line has to be able to keep the LBs some what clean.... Ziggy is NOT taking on double teams.

Your 4-3 base would have to come off the field on passing downs. However I love your 3-4 line-up

What? Look man, the film doesn't lie. Compton takes himself out of plays, is slow from sideline to sideline and along with Foster, was a weak point of this defense. He is a great backup and ST player which is all he should have ever been. SM didn't spend money in this area to upgrade our defense but he will this year, just wait!

Just saw this rumor run by Bleacher Report (per PFT):

Wade Phillips might be in line for our d-coor position if Vance Joseph gets Broncos HC gig. Not sure why one has to the with the other, but that's what the by-line read.

That's asking a lot of Cravens. Could get down with the rest.
