It's real simple how this works. While a coach is associated with the University of Nebraska, the media is not going to rip him apart, because it doesn't matter who the coach is......the majority of the fanbase is going to have the coach's back. That is committing media suicide, ousting a man who is the current leader of the program and all. They won't do that because that could lead to people not wanting to read articles written by that particular member of the media anymore, and that means no more money.

As soon as Bo was out the door, the script is flipped. Suddenly the majority of the fanbase doesn't have his back any more, and now it's a homerun for the media to ream his butthole. Everyone is going to read an article like this now, and it's only gonna attract them to read more.

It's all about money. Always has been. The media doesn't exist just for the hell of it. They aren't out there just for fun. They're out there to suck folks like us in. Grab our attention so we'll come back for more.
