Washington Redskins director of pro personnel Morocco Brown spent Friday interviewing for the vacant general manager's position in Tampa Bay, which could reunite him with coach Lovie Smith.

Brown worked for four years with Smith in Chicago and has been in his current spot with Washington since 2008. The Bucs also will interview Atlanta director of player personnel Lional Vitale and Tennessee Titans vice president of player personnel Lake Dawson. Tampa also might interview Giants vice president of player evaluation Marc Ross. There's a chance Tampa could name its new general manager by Monday, according to reports.

Brown is the only candidate of this group that has ties to Smith. Last offseason, Brown interviewed for the general manager's job in Arizona. Meanwhile, Redskins general manager Bruce Allen said on ESPN980 that senior executive A.J. Smith is being considered for an unnamed team's general manager position.

It's uncertain what direction the Redskins would go if they lost both men.

So if these guysare supposed to be the personnel arm of our front office, WHY wouldnt Dan have given them atleast a nominal promotion and title bump?? Instead we are probably going to lose one or both and then the "power" will still reside with the guy who has NOT been very strong in the personnel department. :L

My bet is he will. But if I'm Morocco, I get out of Dodge. They should have given him the promotion before.

I am okay with AJ Smith leaving. Anyone that fires a coach after a 14-2 season to hire Norv can't be all that bright.

There's always the possibility that if either or both go, a real GM is hired... Wishful thinking I know.

Couldn't blame Brown if he wanted to go and reunite with the old crew. This possibility would have existed whether we had the coaching change or not.

I don't know if I feel things are looking "good" now, as opposed to looking "different". Losing Brown would just heighten that feeling.

Okay with it? I'm not sure what he has ever done for us in the last year. Can't say we would miss him.

I agree. I am disappointed in this whole process because we could have made significant and healthy changes in the organization and we didn't. Two main things bother me:

1. We didn't hire a true GM and just simply promote Allen to team President.

2. We are retaining Haslett for some unknown reason. He was a massive reason the defense was bad the past 4 years.

I like the Gruden hire, but there is tons of work to do. Allen is a cap master, but not a talent evaluator. We need help in that area for sure.
