Clowney would be nice if he doesn't go first overall, which I don't see him going. Maybe we go with Matthews, especially if Saffold isn't re-signed or franchise tagged.

At 13 maybe Safety Clinton-Dix or Mike Evans.

I've heard a number of people mention Clowney, my question is what exactly do you plan to do with him, Long and Quinn?

I can see adding another strong DE later in the draft possibly, but at #2? My preference would definitely be to trade down (Cleveland).

I agree MuTigers. We have a better use for Matthews, Wadkins, or Dix at that selection slot if we keep it than choosing Clowney. Even Barr would be a better pick. Besides, we have enough individuals who need guidance such as with Jenkins, Givens, Armstrong, and Bates to bring this dude on.

Yeah, this draft might be more about leadership and production over upside and character issues for the Rams. After that debacle late in yesterday's game, this team needs some leadership on the defensive side of the ball.

yeah they might have went a little to far but…. I'm glad they showed that kind of fight. they came out and put it all on the line for a game that didn't mean anything. i will take that every time vs come out flat and roll over like the redskins and giants did yesterday. they will learn and be fine.

We would get rid of Long as stupid as that sounds.

Snead is going to be very actively trying to trade down

You have to be carful drafting for need vs drafting BPA. If they have Clowney rated high enough on the board they will take him. but they will try like hell to trade back for the right deal.

I'm a strong table pounder of BPA, however I think it has to be more of a "most positive improvement." Drafting Clowney doesn't improve the team that much where as drafting a guy rated slightly lower could improve the team a far greater amount.

Just a few names of guys I am going to keep an eye on in draft prep. There are all guys I've watched play this past season and think could be real players at the next level. My opinions are likely to change over the next few months as I research and watch tape on guys but here's my way to early thoughts:

Haha Clinton-Dix, S, Alabama
Mike Evans, WR, Texas A&M
C.J. Mosley, ILB, Alabama
Johnny Manziel, QB, Texas A&M
Louis Nix, DT, Notre Dame
Jordan Matthews, WR, Vanderbilt
AJ McCarron, QB, Alabama
Odell Beckham, WR, LSU
Jarvis Landry, WR, LSU
Loucheiz Purifoy, CB, Florida
Michael Sam, DE, Missouri
L'Damian Washington, WR, Missouri
Justin Britt, OT, Missouri
EJ Gaines, CB, Missouri

Keep in mind I attend an SEC school and therefore watch almost primarily SEC football. I do think all 4 of the Missouri guys I listed could really be a steal in the draft as none of them will go too terribly high.

I would replace Sam with Ealy assuming that Ealy goes pro but we really shouldn't be looking at either player because they'll likely go in round 2 and the Rams have bigger needs. I also think Washington and Gaines are a bit underrated right now and they'll probably move up.

Clinton-Dix is the one defensive player I'm looking at in round 1. Other than that, offense, offense, offense

I have heard from people who would know that Kony is as good as gone, but I won't add him to the list until he officially declares. The list was also not meant as a Rams watch list but as a list of guys who I think highly of for the draft overall.

If someone can get EJ Gaines in the 3rd round it may be the steal of the draft, the dude is special. The other of the 5 MU seniors invited to the combine, Marcus Lucas, I think very little of however.

I seen a mock with Ealy going in the 1st somewhere.

Ealy and Sam will both be gone before we pick in round 2...
Britt is mocking in the late 2nd and early 3rd round
Washington is someone I think the Rams might target in round 4 or 5
Gaines is a BEAST but I think the Rams have bigger issues than at CB...

I'm higher on Ealy than Sam, as are people who are making the mock drafts. I've seen some with Sam as low as a 4th or 5th which I simply don't understand. I may be biased but I honestly do think all 4 will be difference makers in the NFL.

The Rams will most likely trade their No. 2 pick for even more picks. Let's hope they make the most of this strategy.

We all know how young the Rams are. They need to sign or trade for some veterans to stabilize these very talented youngsters. These guys need role models. The coaching staff is not providing that.

The Draft is great, and all, but we don't need more kids. We need guys who know how to play WINNING football in a professional manner.

I don't think we can go wrong drafting Clowney. As far as what to do with three DEs, this is a passing league, and with Clowney and Quinn and Long on the field at the same time---the gates of pass rushing hell would be opened.

Probably the smarter thing to do would be to parlay the 2nd pick into something else like we did with the RG3 scenario. I heard on the radio today that left tackle Joe Thomas of the Browns is very unhappy with that organization. If we would offer the Browns our 2nd pick in the draft for their 4th and Thomas....that would benefit everybody. Yes I know, wishful thinking.

Pretty good idea but I don't see how the rams could take on his contract. He makes 12.3m in 14 then 10m till 18. The nice thing is the browns have paid most of the contract and it looks like he could be cut with no cap hit after next year. But he is 30 years old now. How good will he be at 34 years old. Not the rams way to go old when you could draft a young player.
