SMU scored quickly, theoretically there's a chance

They should've gone on 4th and 7 two possessions ago. Maybe they're only down by 7 now. Punting was especially worthless because their D can't stop Memphis anyway. Need to onside kick if they score again.

At this point they need to do everything possible to not give Memphis the ball. Their speed has just worn out SMU's defense

I'm not a never punt guy (kinda close to it, though), but this game would've been the perfect one to never punt as long as it's not something ridiculous like 4th and 20.

I think there was a time too, early on it was a good move because SMU's defense was playing well

In the 2nd half the speed of Memphis' skill guys became too much for their defense and it took them too long to catch on to that
