while i normally frown on rentals i like this trade. we gave up no starters and got what should be a motivated pitcher with good potential. semien had no position and was unlikely to beat out any of the others for either 2nd or short; bassitt is just another thrower with so-so minor league numbers which we have plenty of; phegley for better or for worse wasn't ever going to beat out flowers and the sox seemed unwilling to give him a real shot; i don't know much about ravelo but his numbers don't look particularly impressive. i think these 4 are worth one season from a quality pitcher. plus i think we have a good shot at retaining him as he's from the area and has said many times he'd like to stay in chicago. time will tell
robertson is really a no-brainer. desperately needed a closer and here's a veteran in his prime coming off 4 great seasons in a row. what a pleasant change this guy should be, not that it would take much considering the shit we've been using.
this somewhat makes up for the wasted contract to the roach. totally unnecessary signing.
still looking for that lefty hitting left fielder to make the off-season complete.
