FOXSports' Mike Garafolo reports the Redskins have offered Kirk Cousins $15 million annually.

The offer suggests Washington views Cousins as a midrange starter, placing him behind Alex Smith's $17 million AAV but ahead of Nick Foles ($12.5M). Cousins can make $19.95M under the franchise tag and looks willing to bet on himself if the Redskins don't meet his price. The sides aren't expected to reach a deal before Tuesday's deadline.

That is a low ball offer no wonder why KC wants the franchise tag.

That number will rise. It's in the redskins best interest to sign him to a long term deal. I knew numbers would start to be floated.

I think he is worth 17-18. Sm should offer that. IF KC turns that down then I would be pissed. Do you think 15m is too low jy19?

Yes. And I bet SM does, to. $17-18 M is a good guess.

Cousins should take the offer and then negotiate for a long term deal.

GNG... if he takes the $15 million annually, then it will have already been on a long term deal. Or is what you are saying is that he should accept the tag and work on a long term deal?? This is likely what will have to happen.

Scott Tolzien will most likely be a free agent. The Skins could bring him in for a workout.

You guys are nuts. Football is like the lottery... you have to pay to play. Here we have a QB "finally" who seems to be a true competitor, and you guys want to toss him because he wants to much money. Here we have a QB "finally" who makes quick decisions and doesn't seem to be injury prone... and you guys want to toss him because he wants to much money. Here we have a QB who is quite accurate and you guys want to toss him because he wants to much money. Do you want to just keep bringing in new guys at the position and when they start to excel toss em because they're now asking for too much. Do you ever want to compete for a championship year after year? because you're not doing that with new guys year after year. Stop effing around and pay the man and let's play ball. It's the cost of doing business.

its a low ball offer. No way KC agrees to that. 16-18 mil should be the target for KC. I do think KC will get 15m in FA if we put the transition tag on him.

Cousins should take the offer and then negotiate for a long term deal.

This is the scenario I see as likely. They tag him just to retain his rights while continuing to negotiate a long term deal. Hopefully it's got a few outs like the Niners with Kap.

Speaking of Kap what a dumb ass. He feels disrespected, I guess that little part about him sucking ass for 2 years is irrelevant, so he is now seeking a trade. This after the Niners surprised a lot of people by picking up his option.
