I was just about to make a thread about this from what ive read per league source sidney rice agreed to a one year deal

im not the biggest sidney rice fan but I think this is more of a move with a mindset opening competition for the WR position come training camp. Percy will definitely be one of the starters but i think its fair game to whoever is going to be behind him on the depth chart

Seahawks re-signed WR Sidney Rice to a one-year contract.

A 1-year deal was the right call here. It gives the Seahawks the big receiver they want and since it's only for one year, they aren't going to be screwed if he gets hurt again.

When you try to embed tweets like this, it gives you all this extra code, but it's for presentation on web pages, not forum posts. If you include it all, it usually will end up like that. What I found best, at least for the hoop, is paste the embed code from twitter, but when looking at it all, you'll see near the bottom a section with a link that starts with https, ends with a bunch of numbers, and it's wrapped in double quotes. Delete everything else surrounding it, including the quotes. Just leave the link.

So it looks like this (I put stars for the last couple numbers just to be able to display this)

That should do the trick, but always do it in advanced options mode so you can edit and test it before posting. You might need to click preview button a few times to make sure it works.

I think people have been a little harsh on him. He was messed up after that last season in Minny and then had to deal with CBJ and TJax. When they started opening up the playbook for Wilson last year he started performing like one would expect. And who can forget this?

Highlight: Wilson to Rice for the game winner

That really was the play that started it all.

Nice bit of insurance IMO. I like to find out what the terms are, how much, how much guaranteed, but one year sounds good.

Good deal for both sides. Sid has unfinished business. It will be nice to see him and Harvin on the field together if both are healthy.

Just had a feeling this was going to happen. I like the pickup! Harvin, Rice (if healthy) Baldwin, Kearse. I'm pretty content with this group of WR's.

I like the signing too, but I have zero confidence in him and Harvin staying healthy. The WR position still needs addressed.

I don't think Rice will ever be his dominant form he was in Minnesota the year Favre was throwing to him, but he could very well return to his 2012 form and give us 700-800 yds and a big body for Russell to target

I'm all for it!

I'll take it. Rice, Harvin, Baldwin, Kearse, and probably somebody in the draft sounds good to me.

I like this signing. Hopefully his knee heals to the point that he's about where he was at before the injury. Never really put up the numbers to justify the contract the Seahawks gave him, admittedly some of that was because of the type of offense Pete runs, but he was a solid receiver.

I'm curious about something. I know that analysis stated that the dead money cap hit by cutting Rice this year was going to be minimal which is why there wasn't anything really holding back the Seahawks from releasing him with one year left on his deal.

By resigning him to a 1 year deal and he's still on the Seahawks, does any dead money still occur against him now for the previous contract?

I think we could still end up taking a WR in the draft. Rice is great if he comes back healthy, especially if he's available near the end of the season and playoff run. He's a legit deep / jump ball threat.

But given both him and Harvins durability issues, I'd like to see us start the preseason with at least one other tall WO.

I definately think we should still take a receiver but this signing allows to maybe focus our higher picks on the OL or a LEO type player.
