From Joe Reedy's twitter:

Guenther on if he's talked to Zimmer: "We've talked briefly. He's kind of mad at me right now, so you've got to understand that."

He had to know Lewis would want him, and that his first loyalty was to Lewis, because he gave him his start in the NFL coaching at Washington.

Meh..... He was also under contract - Marvin could have denied permission and it never would have happened anyway.

I can't imagine Zimmer is too broken up. I think it was an innocent comment that sounds bad in the media.

This apparently is not true. There was a tweet from someone yesterday, or the day before, that said the Bengals could not block Guenther from interviewing or leaving. Not sure if he had an "out" clause that allowed him to leave, or what, but apparently the Bengals would not have been able to block him from leaving.

I don't think he's "mad", per se. I could absolutely see a deal where Zimmer had told PG that if he left for a HC job, he was going to hire him as his DC, and maybe they had a little side deal with it, or had at least broached the subject.

Norv is going there to be the OC. Peterson is going to have another stud year under him, and Kyle is about to be a major factor in the passing game.

Well, consider that Guenther has a top 3 defense here, and didn't even have Atkins, Hall, Mays, Lamur, Newman for a few games, Geathers.....

If you are a coach looking to eventually become a HC, where on earth do you want to go RIGHT NOW?

Stay with a defense ranked top 3 that could boost your media awareness and maybe put you on a HC radar, or go take over for Zimmer in Minnesota, wher eyou have no QB to speak of, not weapons on offense really outside Patterson and Peterson, and a defense that is lacking many decent playmakers except on the DL?

It will take him several years to get a hold of that situation in Minnesota, if he even does at all, because if Zimmer can't right that ship rather quickly, he may be out on his ass and with that, Guenther is gone as well. Now Paul is having to start all over from scratch.

All he has to do here is keep doing what Zimmer had started, enjoy the prosperity we have had lately in the draft, and keep moving forward. Cincinnati right now was the quickest route to a potential HC job if that is something he is striving towards.

He also said he had no desire to move his family for the "same" position in DC or Minn...to him, that didn't make sense.

I also agree. He's already got a base here, good players in place, and just needs to continue to add. They'll need to look at CB, LB, and DL in the draft/F/A to help with depth. For once, Safety looks like it is locked up with Nelson and Iloka.

This is the most logical thing you have ever said. Absolutely spot on.

Guenther is in a perfect position in Cincy. Obviously we have some question marks with Atkins, Leon Hall and the aging secondary, but this unit is well trained and has a lot of talent. It can be similar to when Baltimore kept replacing d-coordinators and getting the same result. For Guenther, that would put him in line to be a head coach sooner rather than later.

I think personally that is bull. Just usually most of you do not understand the brilliance behind my posts, and while from the outside those posts look outlandish and whacko, they are actually very brilliant and insightful. Most do not live on the same enlightened plain as my mind does.

I forgive your ignorance and welcome you to join me on this enlightned path of knowledge and freedom from the average message board poster.

I like Kool-Aid. My favorite is still grape or fruit punch. Well, to be honest, I still like them all pretty much, as long as real sugar is used instead of that artificial sweetner stuff.

So yeah, let's have some kool-aid and expand our minds...brother.

*gets out his magic mushrooms and orange Kool-Aid*

Just let the mind be free...

its the transition from sports to sports entertainment. The next thing you know someone will be taking a steel pipe to someone's knee just like the fake sport known as ice skating.
