Should We Consider Playing Kirk Cousins

Couldn't agree more skins and socalwiz. I should be used to this regarding this team, given my fandom for many, many years. I should know by now to try and temper my expectations but I bit, and was "all in for week 1". I don't want to hear that term for awhile...

Still love my skins tho and hoping they'll turn this around.

I am all for starting Cousins. Griffin has been horrible until the team gets down by 30. Our line is not a good drop back QB line but they aren't the reason Griffin has not been good. His accuracy and decision making has been bad.

After one half Wilson and Kaep have been bad without running the ball also.

Griff has earned the right to start for this team unless there is some injury we are not aware of.

You guys should be mad Mike is allowing Kyle to pretend he's in Houston again with the play calling.
We aren't running enough, we are giving up on the run too quick...It appears Haslett is also in pre-season mode too.
Not sure we can beat Detroit with the way our D is playing

If Darrell Green were on the field today (at his current age) I believe he would have been the Redskins best DB today.

Remember - it was only three years ago that Green supposedly ran a sub 4.5 40 at age 50 (an age where a lot of ex-players have trouble getting out of bed).

Playing Cousins, will only hamper RGIII's continued improvement, he's not going be on track for at least a couple more games I think, it's the defense that sucks, we aren't out the race in the NFC by any means, all the teams lost in the NFC LEAST yesterday....

doesn't matter cause Seattle is going to the SB, they're the class of the NFC, they don't have any weaknesses and I don't see anyone beating them, especially if they get home field advantage.

Well - by that time - with another few months against several high powered offenses - we will either have witnessed some improved play & have more hope or nobody will even care (& FedEx will be packed with mainly 9ers fans).

I didn't know that. But I wouldn't doubt it. That guy defied age better than any skill position player I know.

The Eagles had nearly 500 yards in the second game against SD. They play at such a high tempo, they get more yards because they have more plays. I'm not excusing the defense but the offense has to make a bad defense better by keeping them off the field.

late to the discussion but I think if we were to play Kirk....it shoulda been week 1. Now its too late, unless you want to ruin RGIII's mental state, and start a media circus in DC. Kyle needs to get his play calling together

You're absolutely right. Griff is our franchise guy, you don't pull him unless he has an injury. Right now, the mental confidence might not be there yet, but he has to play through it and the TEAM needs to step up and make some plays. This is not all on him. It's everyone.

My question is, what would Cousins give us that RG3 is not currently providing? Cousins is not going to be running any read option, nor is he a more accurate passer. Thus, he is STILL a downgrade to RG3.

This is what I don't get from those calling for Kirk. RG3 is not playing that bad, just not to the level of last year. His numbers are very acceptable. There is nothing that he is not doing that Kirk can do at this point. By sitting RG3, all you are doing is delaying is rehab. Any issues he has at this point are mental. He needs to get comfortable passing with guys falling at his feet. He needs to get comfortable with sliding, getting out of bounds, or throwing the ball away with defenders coming at him full speed. None of these things happen in practice as he has a red shirt on and no one in their right minds will hit him or come close in practice. Finally, he needs reps at game speed. His timing is still a bit off, he's late with some of his throws (reads are taking a bit too long). Again, this can only be rectified by taking game reps.

While I am at it, I think you guys should blame the QB & not the Defense.
