Browns looking to trade Alex Mack and Joe Thomas? - NFL.com

For Mack or Thomas?

I think it would be worth looking into to see what it would take to get either one.

Either of these guys would improve the OL and overall help the offense.

If they could get Thomas and move Robinson to his more natural G position, that would make a pretty nasty OL with Brown and Havenstein mauling on the right side already.

Thoughts?

I would give up a 1st for Thomas in a heartbeat.

Joe Thomas' rep is that he is an elite pass blocker and a mediocre run blocker. No way do the Rams trade for him.

I think Barnes has been playing well except for the penalties. Gurley's big run was basically right down the middle. On that play its hard to say he sprung it because everyone blocked well but on most of Gurley's big runs you see Barnes doing something.

Either of these guys make too much to fit under the cap, right? Joe makes $8M+ per, and Mack makes $8M per.

Since Vernon Davis was traded, the rumors are swirling and Alshon Jeffries and Jared Cook are in the mix. Cook and/or Quick and a pick for Jeffries may happen.

Do it Rams.

They will have an extra 2nd with Bradford's start this week. Gives them extra ammo to make a move like that.

Love Calvin, but think he is headed in the same direction as Andre Johnson? He's seen his better days!

Their are several stories at SBNation, WalterFootball, CBSSports, Yahoo Sports, and my own sources that make references to this Zeke and others interested. The potential trade had its origins several weeks ago before the break when Cook was a sole drive-killer in our fledgling offense and Snisher began exploring suitors for Cook. The potential deal is still simmering and that is its state right now. The Rams have until 12:00am today to pull the trigger otherwise it will die.

I didn't hear anything about Jeffries but I did hear about Cook. I think we are stuck with Cook. No one wants him and his inflated salary. But I would be willing to part with one of our #2's for Jeffries though! Our offense needs some kind of spark other than Gurley. We are just a couple of pieces away from building an offense that can move the chains consistently. But we are the Rams and we are known for sitting on our hands in these situations.

I might have missed this but on the radio the guys mentioned that Mack has a no trade clause and has no desire of waving it

That is true Zeke and we have a substantial track record of sitting on our hands with the opportunities present themselves. We then realize we sat on our hands and try to assuage the blame by making another move that is usually the wrong one. I doubt we will make a move for Mack or Thomas either. I think the Rams finally understand that they are very bad at signing FA lineman and they have a very big young group that can be good right now and elite in a couple of years. If we do make a move, Jeffries will be the likely trade. WE have other pressing issues as well like signing one or both of our corners. We shall see how this plays out.

Correct Red. The Mack and Thomas speculations are just that. Mack does indeed have a no-trade clause and isn't going to change it and Thomas has stated he wants to stay as well. This is a couple of sports writers trying to appear like they are insiders or something.

I think that we have learned that we have to overpay in order to get an all pro to sign here, that is why we rely heavily on the draft. History has shown that when we do land a big name free agent for huge $$, their play usually begins to slack off!

But I'm not sure why we don't trade picks for proven players? Is it because they only choose to go to a contender?

What about Boldin as a cheaper fall-back option at WR? He's very cheap after this season (but of course he's 35 already). If the 49er fire sale is on....?

Bolden's career is done. I wouldn't waste anymore time and money on the guy Shopson. Our receivers are just as good or better.

In other news, the Broncos however did offer the Browns a number one for Thomas. Elway wants another ring and apparently so does Manning. No response to date.

Pretty much every team sat on their hands today.
