Recently there have been speculation that the Broncos will cut the former 1st Rd pick after drafting the former Aztec RB Ronnie Hillman. If Moreno is cut should the Bengals bring him in and add him to the rotation?

excerpt~

Moreno on the way out?

The Denver Broncos had a major overhaul of the QB position this offseason -- you may have heard something about this; Peyton Manning and Brock Osweiler are in, Tim Tebow and Brady Quinn are out -- and apparently they're not stopping there when it comes to the skill positions.

ESPN AFC West blogger Bill Williamson writes that another former first-round pick -- RB Knowshon Moreno -- could be on his way out unless he has a strong performance in training camp:

- Tim Kavanagh

I think Moreno could be cut
"Denver drafted Ronnie Hillman in the third round out of San Diego State. Willis McGahee will still be the starter. Denver could give Moreno a chance, but I don't think the team is counting on him to do much. He is coming back from a torn ACL and he was arrested in the recent past. I don't think he is a player that is truly on Denver's radar. If he has a good camp, maybe he will be given a chance. But don't expect much."

That guy doesn't give a compelling arguement as to why Moreno will be cut. They drafted a RB in the 3rd rd and have a 31 yr old starter?.. I don't see why how that makes Moreno expendable unless they're given compensation in a trade...

I would take Moreno in a heartbeat for RB depth if he's willing to sign a reasonable deal..
he was overdrafted, but has still been a solid player

On a team that's made mediocre RB's look awesome Moreno has managed to look average to below average. What happens when he comes to a different team without that magic?

NO THANKS.

Comeon Kramer, I think you just looking at stats and not seeing what actually happened in Mile High. Moreno's first 2 seasons he was in a running back by committee situation and last year he got hurt and lost his starting position. He's a young guy who's a north-south running that hits the hole quickly with little wear and tear on his body. If he is cut loose by the Broncos I would bring him in in a heartbeat!

2009
Moreno- 947 yds
Buckhalter- 642 yds

2010
Moreno- 779
Tebow- 227
Buckhalter- 147

2011
McGahee- 1199
Moreno- 179 (missed 10 games)

Not interested...His body wont hold up in the physical AFC North.....The hits from Pitt, Bmore and Cleveland will have this brittle RB on IR before the bye...

the exact same reasons you went on about how you didn't want Jabar Gaffney?

How is this any different?

LOL. Not even close. We've got tons of WRs with talent. Our RBs, are BJGE who is a rotational back, then Scott, Leonard, and whoever the 4th winds up being. Moreno is still young. That's like comparing apples to aluminum siding.

With the signing of BJGE to add to the presence of Leonard, Peerman, and Scott, no reason to go out and sign Moreno. Not enough carries or positions to efficiently utilize them.

Better to have that problem with BJGE and Moreno than BJGE an Scott though.

we do? 2 weeks ago we were talking about Binns being our #2 guy. Any 'talent' we have is almost entirely unproven.

Moreno is young(er) yes, but injury prone, it's a tough defensive division, and with the short lifespan of RBs in today's league, especially since I wouldn't really call Moreno an 'elite talent,' I don't think its far off.

This isn't that much different. I'm just surprised how adamant you are against one but fine with the other.

I guess that depends on how much he is asking for if he is released. If he is not released, I would not consider trading for him, but if he is released, I would consider bringing him into camp for a try out. It isn't like we have the most productive backfield in the league. Most of the time they spend on the inactive list due to injury.

If he is released, and will accept an incentive laiden contract (1 year) for a tryout then I would say yes.

We have a ton of WRs that are highly talented. At RB we've got a platoon starter, a guy who hasn't done anything worthwhile in the league, a guy who gets the ball only on 3rd down, and Peerman. Not even close to what we have at WR.

Don't forget Boom...who's probably the most talented guy we have.

Scott isn't going anywhere. They like him and his ability to catch out of the backfield. He also comes as a fraction of the price Moreno would and doesn't come with the injury concerns.

Actually, at WR we have a bunch of very late round guys who have never taken a snap in the NFL.

Plus, more importantly, the correlation between talent and production isn't near as high for a RB as it is for a WR.

Oh, don't mistake me, I have no illusions that we're getting rid of Scott or signing another back..I just meant I would if it were me.
