Yes he should be there. If Baines is in then there is no excuse, also the Colorado excuse shouldn't exist either his numbers in Montreal were very good also.

Yes. It’s a joke he hasn’t been inducted already, while Vlad sailed in on his 2nd attempt.

you can't be serious in comparing Langford and O'neill with Walker..

150 more HR, 500 more rbi, 40 points on BA against langford in a short look.

The only number O'neill is better than Walker in is GDP.
He was comparing them to Baines.

that was about Baines, not Walker.

But he was a beast for years in Colorado.

Hall of Famer

.298/ .352/ .502/ .854/ 128 ops+
47 WAR

Not a Hall of Famer

.313/ .400/ .565/ .965/ 141 ops+
72.7 WAR

But Rice was 'feared' so much that pitchers wouldn't even walk him and would rather take their chances getting him out, right @Rex Racer? :rolleyes2:

Rice was the pretty much Juan Gonzalez of his day...

he was awesome in Montreal too (128 OPS+ and 21.3 WAR in 654 games (5.3 WAR per 650 PA)). it's not like his bat fell off when he went to St. Louis (134 OPS+ at age 38-39 before retiring). Great hitter (.313/.400/.565, 141 OPS+) even after you adjust for his era and Coors Field, a very good baserunner and a great fielder (7 Gold Gloves, +94 Total Zone Runs). He had 72.7 WAR in just over 8000 PA and averaged nearly 6 WAR per 650 games. He was very good for a long time (4+ WAR in ten seasons, 48.3 Wins Above Average) and has a strong peak (7.8 WAR in 2001 and 9.8 in 1997). He's 11th all-time among right fielders in WAR7, 10th in JAWS and 11th in WAR (all figures above the averages for HOF right fielders).

easy yes for me.
he hit .379 in 1999, had a 1.168 OPS

and finished 10th in the MVP voting.

greg freakin vaughn got more votes that year

steroids, steroids, and more steroids got votes above him.

I am glad he got in. Playing in Coors inflated his power, but he was an elite hitter long before he went to Coors. I think had he stayed in Montreal, his numbers would be worse, but he would have gotten into the Hall sooner. He would have been a 2nd or 3rd ballot player had he not missed about 30 games a year.

I still doubt Helton ever gets in, but I hope he does.

He was better than Jeter and he got 99.7% on his 1st ballot. 2nd highest of all-time.

It's not about how great you are, it's about how many dicks you suck

If i saw this correctly, he had a better war, batting avg, homeruns, slg%, ops, gold gloves, less k's, and same number of rbis as Jeter.

Jeter was a hall of famer, but alot of his allure came from playing SS for the yanks for 20 years.

in fairness, it probably didn't help that the Rockies were pretty lousy (72-90) and he did only play 127 games. I do agree that some of the players that finished ahead of him in the MVP voting were not more valuable (Williams, Vaughn, maybe Sosa; despite the home runs)

Walker failing to finish in the top 15 in 2001 and 2002 was pretty absurd.

He should have been a first ballot guy.

Even when he was with the Expos in the early 90s, Bonds was the only OFer in the NL clearly better than him.

I still think when one considers the overall skills sets, the Walker/Grissom/Alou OF might have been greatest ever assembled.

It's a shame the Expos never had a chance to keep it together.
