As if any of us have EVER seen another hitter with as good an eye as Barry Bonds.

Nicely played, Fud. Already starting with the logical fail.

I think it was more than an "eye" with Bonds. Sandoval can see that those pitches are balls but he can't lay off. Bonds was disciplined enough to do it. He was not going to play the opposition's game. His base on balls made hitters behind him better. I think you would agree that most hitters hit better,or at least see better pitches, with runners aboard. Sandoval, being more patient, would not only help himself but also other hitters in the lineup.

I was hoping never to see that 'FUD' term on this board, and now thanks to Nolan showing up I do.

They did challenge him in the first inning and they paid for it. I'd like to see him wait for some better pitches but I don't think they will throw him good pitches until they have to. As long as he swings at slop, as you call it, I agree, why throw him a strike? He's got to force the issue by taking some walks and not be afraid to leave it up to the hitters behind him.

So it's official. Nolan has fucked up today's GDT. Almost as much as Sanchez has.

How long before we DFA 'HarbaughHooey'?

Thanks Captain Obvious. How did we ever get along without your cogent insight? BTW, how'd that whole "Zito will have a good year" thing work out?

Did you mean in Richmond?

Not so good. But the Giants are between a rock and a hard place now with him. It's either him or Sanchez and neither is going to be much more than an inning eater.

Not our game to win, lads. Chez was awful and Mota not much better. Still, I'd like to see them push across a couple more runs here on principle.

Perhaps I'm being elitist, but I really enjoyed not having to state the obvious with a group of guys who knew the game well enough not to have to get into these types of discussions.

Maybe; but steroids are quite helpful in oracular regeneration, according to my brother-in-law who is an eye surgeon. So in Bonds case it isn't just a figurative "eye" but literally a better eye as well.

Bonds was disciplined, but he was also chemically enhanced. Panda is neither.
