Several of the guys getting Shanabans in the preseason were AHLers trying to make a name for themselves, so maybe not too surprising that some of the garbage hits are out.

David Backes laid a beauty of a hit on Brandon McMillan of the Ducks last night. The best part was no fight ensued (considering it was the Ducks, I was shocked).

/It was Corey Perry night last night at the Ponda Center as well...

When you send a strong message, it gets received. Good work, Shanny.

And I, too, have been very pleased with the hitting early on. Even Matt Cooke has kept it clean if you can believe it.

The players also deserve a lot of credit on this one too, imo. Both sides had to meet halfway in order for things to change. None of these guys wants put out of work because their bell got rung.

The key words are "disciplinary hearing", sounds like Letang will get a vacation for a couple of games.

Of course I'm biased, but the Jet who was boarded didn't exactly help himself out by turning right before he was about to get checked.

The Pens look like they are already expecting to be without Letang's services as they've called up Brian Strait from the WB/S Pens :L

2:00 is enough. Fuck off Shanny. My team is already being held together with duct tape and chicken wire, WTF why not just suspend all the Pens offensive threats and they can start skating the AHL team just like last year :L

No need to hit the guy there. Also not a very hard hit, so I can't imagine more that 1 or 2 games.

But it should be 1 or 2 games at least.

I agree with Darkstone that he probably gets 1-2.

Burmistrov turned a bit right before the hit, but if the Shanaban is consistent with the pre-season Shanabans, I think we'll see 1-2 because Letang still drove through the hit.

Even though I'd love to see that maggot Letang done for longer, I agree this warrants no more than 2 games.

if its gonna be consistent with the preseason, should it be the same punishment that PL3 got? (not that Im saying Letang deserves 5 regular season games)

I thought this one was different because in the PL3 case, the back was turned pretty much the whole time. In the Letang hit, Burmistrov's turn was pretty quick before the hit.

I am pleasantly surprised.

I hope Wisniewski learned his lesson. Jackets NEED him.
