On the power play thoughts, over time, scoring early and late in the powerplay would average out, if you can prove a reasonably random distribution of goals throughout the time of a power play. Actually, after the game I will attempt to do just that. I believe the goals tend to come mostly between 10 seconds in and 10 seconds left. However, I would split powerplays into 20 second increments.

Also, a team that typically scores early in their power play would arguably have a more effective power play than a team with the same % per possession would when they typically score late.

yes, I'd like to see that added as a stat, even if it doesn't replace what we currently have.
