I think you're wrong. It isn't all on their ability, they just aren't good enough to beat out Moss, Manningham, Crabtree, Gore, and Hunter. I think the coaching staff only chooses Williams and Dixon over the rookies because Williams/Dixon can contribute more to special teams than the rookies can at this point.

Maybe the Niners were looking down the road with this draft. Perhaps the draft picks will contribute next year. Its almost unheard of though that your first three picks can't crack the active roster. I'd be shocked, in fact, if it has ever happened before.
