So far.....

- Alvarez will be back when Indy's season ends
- Ciriaco is back
- Jaramillo is back
- Gorkys Hernandez will not be called back
- Locke not yet
- Moskos not yet
- Aaron Thompson not yet
- Burres was promoted
- Hague will not be called back, due to the presence of Derrek Lee
- Ludwick will come off the DL on Wednesday

I didn't do so well in my prediction..... only about 50-50 so far. :hurt:

Two biggest surprises for me are Gorkys and Burres. Perhaps one or more of the pitchers (Moskos, Locke, Aaron Thompson) still will get the call after Indy's season ends.

Despite the fact that he has hit well in our small sample, I STILL don't like the idea of pursuing Derrek Lee for next season. If Huntington is successful in that endeavor, it means that Hague won't even get a serious look. No thank you very much. :hurt:

Looks like Locke and Hughes are on their way up, good call on Locke, Mags. Who'd thought Locke would be the first of the "Altoona Four" to get the call.

If we really spend big and get a real catcher and SS and we believe alvarez will be big next year, then spend on lee and try to win next year. if we are only going to add small pieces like usual via free agency and garbage surfing, no sense to add a 36 yo with a big salary. we should let hague play first and see if he has potential for to at least platoon with jones next year and to groom as the fulltime starter for thereafter.

Hague doesn't really work in a platoon because he is right handed and has a career reverse platoon split.

Anyway spending big isn't going to get them much, because the free agent class is boom or bust, Jose Reyes of Clint Barmes, there is no middle ground. The catcher market almost all bust, besides Yadier Molina who the Cardinals have an option on.

The only way to get a significant piece in here is to make a trade for a major league player. Maybe trade for a player that is coming off a down year, and no that doesn't mean Hanley Ramirez. Or make a trade for a guy with a large (ish) contract, who the team needs to move, and is willing to take little in return to get out from under that deal; Wandy Rodriguez comes to mind.

Although this discussion is probably best saved for another thread.

thanks.
for this year, both his BB and K rate are drastically lower against lefties and the low BB rate is what skews his platoon split.
not sure if that is based on pitcher mix at that level, or his skills, or a combination.
