The kids played pretty well for the Sens tonight.

Brian Lee, in particular, impressed me. I say keep the kid. Trading him right now would be selling low, IMO. Give him lots of minutes the rest of this season and then evaluate.

They put Lee on waivers & nobody wanted him. Why would any team give up anything for him now?

Possible reasons:

1) Injuries.
2) Team is out of the playoffs and looking for a young defenseman.
3) They've seen him play recently and feel (like I do) that he will be a decent NHL defenseman.
4) They have a prospect that they want rid of and feel that Lee just needs a change of scenery.

Exactly, Lee should stick around. I've thought that for awhile now with Phillips likely getting traded and Kuba being bought out (Yes, I think it will definitely happen). He's cheap, young and has some experience. Next year that will help quite a bit.

Lehner showed he needs a bit more seasoning but he's close. He should close out the season down in Bingo where they could potentially make a playoff run.

Smith has made some serious strides this season and I see him as a good 3rd liner in the future.

Winchester keeps playing his heart out every game. He doesn't have a lot of skill but he'd definitely be a good guy to have on the 3rd or 4th line at any time.

Foligno played a little better tonight. I don't see him as a 1st liner at any point in his career but he should be able to pot 20 goals a year on the 2nd line.

Locke showed me why he's never made it at the NHL level. Yeah, the skill is there but he's just not fast enough. Definitely one of those guys who is a career AHLer I think. He should go back down to Bingo and help out that team.

Michalek was much better tonight and he usually is when he actually uses his speed. Hopefully he can do that more often. If he does then he could be a 1st liner for the Sens but he's not consistent enough.

Karlsson has been underwhelming the last few games. He did ring one off the post late in the game but he's gotta be better. Phillips sucking hard the last few games probably has a little bit to do with it. Obviously though, he's going to be a stud in the future. Definitely a top pairing guy in the making.

Regin was better in this game but I'm starting to think he might need a change of scenery. You can't justify 1 goal while playing half the games in the top 6. That's just not good enough.

With Cowan, Wiercoch & Runblad coming soon the Sens defense will be good in a year or two.

For sure and Karlsson already looks pretty good.

The key now will be to get some offensive studs in the draft. If the Sens can do that then they'll get back to where they once were.

Who's the Jeff Skinner of the 2011 draft?

I don't know if there is one.

For me though...I would definitely like to see Landeskog, Nugent-Hopkins or Couturier on the Sens though. The only one that I would say would definitely be NHL ready next year would be Landeskog.

On defense, I'd say Larsson looks pretty good. I suspect the 4 I just mentioned here will be the top 4 picks in the draft though.

With Landeskog missing the prospects game due to the ankle injury do you think it could affect his draft stock?

No, not really. He was pretty dominant down in the OHL before he got injured and he was pretty good in the World Juniors until he got hurt. Only way is if he's out long term but otherwise I don't see it having that big of an effect on his draft stock.

He has not gotten a fair shake from this team yet, I don't know why we'd expect it now.

I've always liked him. He's steady and in my opinion has been maturing well.

So what did Neil do, put Campoli's necktie in goal?

Yeah, he never really has been given a fair shake.

I don't think he's ever going to be a guy who plays in the top 4 but he's solid all around. I would much rather have him then Kuba for instance.

LOL at the Emery reference. Campoli deserved it though for that brutal turnover against the B's...
