They really went all-in this year and Leon is due a big raise...Bouchard will also be due a big raise. Then Connor will be due a big raise. I don't see how they keep all these guys even with the cap going up.

What’s funny is despite all of this they’re still probably only getting rid of Ceci for a replacement level stay-at-home D and having Henrique healthy from probably being able to go deeper and they still probably are screwed.

This is a generational fumble.

Very true, the Canucks depth has come to the fore where the Oilers have no depth. Also, I feel there is a lack of respect from the Oilers (more from the media and fanbase than the players) where they are shocked that they are on the brink of elimination. J.T. Miller has done a superb job on McDavid in this series and that penalty kill was perfect in game 5.

Depth has helped them no doubt but their top six have done everything asked of them and they’ve been solid defensively through three pairs and gotten good goaltending from a third stringer. That’s pretty much the standard recipe for playoff success, especially contrasted to Edmonton who’ve been a one line team with one good D pairing and a roller coaster in net.
