A useful idiot.
The bit from 2:30 to 3:00 makes me think the SNL writer who did it would really like the NHL general board.
We do set the standard around here, don't we?
I know, but honestly: WTF he is talking about?
“How many Chevrolets do you see in Germany? Not very many, maybe none at all … it’s a one-way street.”
The German FM added a few bits, discussing how the man seems oblivious to the fact that numerous parts in the supply chain for American manufacturers come from overseas markets and would be subject to the same "heavy border tax" that he's preaching for imports and ultimately drive up costs for everybody and do nobody any favours. Something I hadn't thought of but I'm not president of the United States so I think I get a pass. The president, like you said, should definitely be aware of that lol.Excellent post, BBB. Interesting stuff.
He's talking about whatever comes into his head in that moment, and that's exactly the problem. You can't do that shit when you're the President.
German Economic Minister said as much: "here was a better way than tariffs to boost sales of Chevrolets in Europe, he added. “The US should build better cars,” said Mr Gabriel.I wonder if it has anything to do with the Germans liking things that are well engineered and will last more than 75,000 miles?

Honda just announced they're expanding their facility in Alliston, ONSo, when it becomes cost neutral for Honda to build the Accord and Pilot somewhere else and pay the import tax on the whole car instead of the parts they use to assemble it, not only do the people who work there lose their jobs, everyone who makes parts locally does too.
Honda has a giant plant in Marysville Ohio. 4200 people work there and hundreds of small businesses in the area supply them. It's been estimated that if Honda dropped just that plant, it could have residual effects up to 12,000 jobs.
And those people overwhelmingly voted for the turnip.
