I'm afraid that a 9th conference game would almost eliminate teams from scheduling quality OOC teams, beyond their traditional OOC rivals.

In that line of thought, you forgot Kentucky (Louisville) and Vanderbilt plays Wake Forest nearly every year, possibly Texas A&M if they ever get right with Texas... but it would affect everyone else because it's one less cupcake they can schedule.
