With their reluctance to spend past a certain level, I am not sure they well be in the competitive realm here and still add the rest of what the team needs

If they aren't willing they should find another business to get into.

With McCullers going on the DL again I would say yes also. They are lucky they have the big division lead

Yes. Darvish had to be traded. But what JD got back is such a joke that you'd think he'd never done this before. This is a terribly sad day for the Rangers.

The Rangers got worse today. Much worse. Maybe it was inevitable. But still...just wow.

If only Beltre could be traded to a contending team now. He's stuck with a team going nowhere the rest of his career now.

Fuck off, shit stain.

I agree, do you think they will spend? We have talked about this budget plenty before

I expect, as I have all along, that the Rangers would make a competitive offer for Darvish when he is a free agent. That is not to say that Yu will accept or that their offer will be the highest.

They will make an offer, but the big spenders just might outpace their competitiveness

Disappointing return. Glad the drama is over with. Let's move on to waiver deals. Maybe something good will break there.

I think they have to do some things to get costs down like trade Choo and only be on the hook for 40-50% of the remainder of his salary. Trading Hamels would help as well. To be able to contend by 2020 they need both Darvish and Otani. They also have to get some very cheap young talent and that might require trading not only Choo and Hamels, but Odor as well. We picked up one piece today, but we need 3 or 4 more.

I imagine that whatever Darvish signs for, I'll be ultimately relieved it wasn't the Rangers that paid it. But I am not automatically writing them off as serious players for his services.

How is Profar's shoulder? Can he pitch yet?

If he pitches well for the Dodgers and gets them a couple playoff wins, he will likely price himself out of what I would want the Rangers to pay for said services

Not sure about the market being higher than giraffe pussy when we went after rentals or just that what we paid was higher than what maybe others would have. Maybe just not great at deadline deals

For Darvish it's probably not the money but the years

When the hell is Choo and Fielder off the books? It seems like we can't fix this team until those 2 mistakes are completely wiped away.

From Grant:

Jurickson Profar was held out of Round Rock lineup last night. Hearing he's expressed unhappiness over not being dealt today

I'm surprised he wasn't.
