What's dumb about it? So you'd like to see the team miss the playoffs and then all of those guys walk in the winter for nothing?

Because you're so fucking knee jerk about everything.

A look at the highs and lows of Yu Darvish's time with the Rangers:

Highlights
-- Darvish's best season came in 2013, his second year with the Rangers. He went 13-9 with a 2.83 ERA, led the majors in strikeouts with 277 and finished second to Max Scherzer in the American League Cy Young voting.

It marked the only time in Darvish's first five seasons with the club that he made 30-plus starts and worked 200-plus innings. Darvish started the final game of the regular season in a must-win situation and was not available for the tie-breaker game against Tampa Bay, which the Rangers lost.

-- Darvish made the AL All-Star team four times in six seasons with the Rangers, tying him for the fourth-highest number in that span among major-league starting pitchers. Clayton Kershaw, of Highland Park, and Chris Sale each have six All-Star nominations since 2012, and Scherzer has five. Madison Bumgarner and Felix Hernandez also had four All-Star appearances. Darvish pitched only once in the game, working one scoreless inning with one strikeout in 2014.

-- In his first start of 2013, at Houston, Darvish came up with the best single-game performance of his major-league career. One out from a perfect game, Darvish allowed Marwin Gonzalez' ground single through the middle.

"I went that far," said Darvish, speaking through an interpreter. "I'm satisfied."

Darvish had 14 strikeouts, second-highest total of his major-league career. Darvish had 15 strikeouts on Aug. 12, 2013, when his no-hit bid ended on Carlos Corporan's one-out homer in the eighth inning.

Lowlights

-- Darvish did not pitch in the final two months of the miserable 2014 season because of elbow tightness and inflammation. The Rangers hoped a full off-season of rehabilitation work would enable Darvish to avoid surgery. They made the wrong call.

Tightness in the triceps forced Darvish out of his first spring-training start after only one inning. Two weeks later, Darvish underwent season-ending Tommy John surgery. He returned to the major-league rotation on May 28, 2016.

-- Darvish made two postseason starts with the Rangers: the wild-card game against Baltimore in 2012 and an AL Division Series game against Toronto in 2016. He lost each game, going 0-2 with a 5.40 ERA.

In the loss to Toronto, Darvish gave up four homers in only five innings. That included three homers in the span of five hitters in his final inning. The four homers allowed matched the highest total in postseason history. Seven other pitchers suffered the same fate. The most recent was Rick Reed in 2002.

(Louis DeLuca/The Dallas Morning News)

-- Darvish averaged 11.03 strikeouts per nine innings, highest rate among the 75 major-leaguers with at least 700 innings since 2012. There was a drawback to that.

In pursuit of strikeouts, Darvish often ran up high pitch counts and issued walks. In the same span, he ranked 64th for walks per nine innings with 3.37 and 50th in pitches per inning at 16.2. A rising pitch count often kept Darvish from getting deep into games. He had two complete games in 121 starts and did not get through the sixth inning in 28 starts.

I wonder who blinked.

Meanwhile I guess we are hanging on to Gomez, Cashner, and Napoli for some unknown reason.
