says every Rams fan on here and no one else :D

It's pretty obvious the Cowboys were picked for two reasons. The rivalry being the second reason, but the fact that they are the big ratings draw is absolutely reason #1. This is going to be the biggest Thursday night opener from a ratings perspective ever unless it is a blowout early. If we are being objective about it and ignoring the money aspect, picking anyone but Washington, KC (if that game was a Philly home game) or a very distant 3rd of Detroit doesn't make any sense at all. I know you guys keep saying it should be your team, but they aren't even in the discussion. Personally I think it should have been Washington. One never knows how a new NFL season will play out, but coming off of last year Philly vs Wash just makes sense from a football perspective for a lot of reasons.
They wanted to stack the Philly Commies games late in the season apparently.

I didn't look at their schedules. That kind of makes sense of course, but this is the game people talk about and that kind of jump starts the season. You would think the NFL would want to sell Phi/Wash as a 2025 rivalry. Plus, the worst case scenario for the NFL is a blowout. I expect Dallas to play better than last year and I'm not sure Washington is as good as they were last year, but if you are the NFL and were playing the odds and wanted to start your season with a bang that would mean Washington IMO. If Dallas is in the mix this season, that's a perfect late season flex game ratings bonanza.

I was talking earlier about the Eagles Cowboys rivalry not delivering for the networks the past few years. Either one or the other has been out of contention when they play. There was a game where Minshew started. Two games with Cooper Rush starting. This increases the likelihood that both teams are full strength and the game means something in the standings.

The Rams were literally the Eagles's only playoff opponent who didn't lose by at least two scores. They're objectively a better opponent than Dallas.

Rams fans are so impressed with themselves for that moral victory. It’s been a theme on this board and social media.

I agree that the Rams will probably be a better team than the Cowboys, but the Cowboys are a huge ratings draw and a divisional rivalry to open the season was something the NFL couldn’t resist. And last season the Eagles blew out the Cowboys in two late season matchups, so they probably wanted at least one of their matchups to be early this season when anything is possible.
I do think the Cowboys will be improved this year and are a playoff caliber team, although their rushing attack is a question mark, they have a good amount of talent everywhere else through.

It's not a matter of being impressed. It's a matter of fact they were the only postseason opponent who had a chance to beat them. Simple as that.

Your 10-7 team last year was better than Dallas. Dallas sucked last year. That doesn’t mean you are a better choice to play in this game this year. It’s also odd to pick one game as being very meaningful and especially a game that you lost.

If you read my post I gave the reason why Dallas was a better choice than the Rams and neither of the reasons had anything to do with them being a good team. But like I said from a football perspective Washington was the best choice. Washington is a division rival, an up and coming team (or at least perceived to be one) and beat Philly once last year and went further than the Rams in the playoffs. Like I said The Rams were never in the discussion I’m sure and shouldn’t have been. You guys are probably a little better than 50/50 to be good but honestly are kind of vanilla from a ratings perspective outside of your division.

Your team didn't improve its roster and your new head coach is somehow a downgrade from McCarthy. Spare me this narrative.

I’m not sure if it’s a reading comprehension problem issue with you but point out where I said Dallas was going to be good. You seem unable to follow the point of why Dallas was picked that has been made pretty clearly by not just me but others as well.

Now to your point if you don’t think they improved their roster and if you think Schottenheimer is a downgrade from McCarthy you either don’t follow football in general or the Cowboys in particular. Matters not to me either way. Now again, don’t confuse that with me saying Dallas will be good

Why were Dallas and Washington the two best choices (again KC game isn’t in Philly):

I'm glad he is saying that as opposed to talking smack like your no-ring boys. See, AJ has become wise, they are still Boys.

How 'bout them ringless trash talkers like Micah?

What we’ve heard is that networks haven’t gotten as much as they desire out of the Eagles Cowboys rivalry in past years because they’ve scheduled the game so late in the season hoping the games would make an impact in the division race. It’s always seemed to not matter as one of the two teams seemed to have an off year. By making it the first game of the season, nobody (looking at you Cowboys) has played them out of contention.
They played on SNF week 6 in 2022. On MNF week 3 in 2021. Those are early.

all I know is I'm taking the points knowing full well the champs will be fired up to embarrass Dallas that evening.

Strongest advantage for philly would be coaching according to many.

Screw the rams fan, This will be a good opener.

Eagles host the 94 Cowboys ! Oh wait you mean 9/4 :)
They are acting like the Eagles are going to play the '94 Boys, instead of the crew that got beat 41-7 and 34-6 last year!
