A lot of people disagree with me but I have always thought it is wrong to allow a team to ice the puck while shorthanded. Why should a team be able to do something you cannot do before being penalized.

Just my 2 cents.

I do agree that Burnside for the most part is a tool.

I completely agree with you. Why have a privilege when you were just penalized?

That article doesn't seem so bad to me.

3 on 3 OT - I don't see any harm and it will lead to fewer shootouts
Hybrid Icing - I would prefer automatic icing, but changing to this would be better than no change
Serving all 2 minutes - I like it
Calling icing on the PK - I disagree. You might as well just put a goal up on the board when a penalty is called
Hand pass - I disagree, if anything I'd like to see hand passes eliminated
Trapezoid - I'm pretty indifferent on this, but I do like the idea that goalies can play the puck outside the trapezoid, but they are fair game if they do
Shallower nets - Haven't heard this one before, but I like it
Curved stick - I disagree, current rules are fine
Video replay - I disagree with this, you gotta go by what you can see. I don't even trust the NHL to get that right, so no way would I want them going on their gut instinct to determine goals.

This stance by Burnside doesn't surprise me, iirc, he's advocated in the past that throwing the puck into the net should count as a goal (as well as intentionally kicking the puck into the net). Maybe he wants football on ice, I'm not sure.

i'm not really against kicking the puck into the net.. it wont happen that often.. what player would choose to kick the puck instead of hit it w/ their stick.. IMO its like 30 times hard to kick a puck on ice than to hit it with a stick.. and it would only happen in the crease.. you get 0 power kicking the puck

gloving the net into the net is ridiculous..

as far as the OT goes (gotta be honest, didnt read the article) but i would be more ok with them switching to 3 on 3 OT for the whole thing.. instead of going from 4 on 4 to 3 on 3.. i dno if thats what he was advocating or the switching idea

I don't agree with his opinions on curved sticks or "common sense" replays, but they're hardly moronic arguments. I wouldn't change the nets either, but that's hardly anything I'd get worked up over.

I don't hate the idea of eliminating icing while shorthanded. Ken Campbell supported it a couple days ago too, so Burnside isn't the only one.

And if they're gonna make teams kill the entire penalty regardless of scoring, they need to get rid of the 2 minute delay of game puck over the glass penalty. Make it like icing -- well, even strength icing...

I just worry about the safety factor on those goalmouth scrambles, those blades are razor sharp and combined with how easy some goalies lose their masks...The last thing I need to see is another Clint Malarchuk incident.

It's dangerous for defense men that are down in the crease with all those skates flying around trying to kick the puck in the net. Bad idea.

Yup you and Dash are right, and that's why kicking the puck in is not allowed. We've already had a couple throats get slashed the past few seasons as the game is now, we don't need to add to that total.

didnt think about safety..

but, speaking of safety.. high sticking the puck needs to be changed too.. goal decisions shouldn't be made on where the puck hits the stick.. it should be determined by the highest point of the stick.. the whole point of having this rule is safety, and just because the puck hits the stick lower doesn't make it less dangerous.. happened on a.. kovalev?.. goal a few years ago where his stick came down on the crossbar, but the goal was allowed because the puck hit lower on his stick

goaltender interference needs fixed too.. they call it way too often.. if a guy cant control it, i.e gets pushed into the goalie, it shouldn't be goaltender interference

I wouldn't be opposed to them calling off goals if the blade of the stick is above the crossbar, regardless of where on the stick the puck hits. It seems like that would take a lot of the ambiguity out of it.

As for the goalie interference calls, I hate to say it but that'll only improve when the refs improve. It's a judgment call and you just don't know what you're gonna get from ref to ref or how they see it.

The people who are saying it isn't that bad or "this rule isn't bad" are missing the point. I conceded that we will agree/disagree about certain rules, but taking that article in its entirety completely changes the sport. Can you seriously imagine what it would be like if ALL of those rules were implemented? Scoring would be up though!
