We went to watch a local university's football game (division I) last night.
There was a blocked PAT, that the defender then picked up and took all the way to the house.
This was scored as a safety for 2 points.
I don't specifically remember ever seeing that happen (blocked PAT taken the other way) at the pro level, but it seems like this would be a touchdown, not a safety.
Am I thinking about this wrong, or is this a scoring rule that differs from college, to the pro's?

Only in high school is the ball deemed dead on a blocked pat. College and NFL score 2 pts and I believe that is why it is called a safety

Wrong in case of the NFL, defense cannot score on PAT or 2 point try.

This is from NFL rules digest>
The defensive team never can score on a try. As soon as defense gets possession or the kick is blocked or a touchdown is not scored, the try is over.

This happened in Packers game vs Bengals last week.. Datone Jones blocked PAT.

Incorrect, in the NFL, the ball is dead. You can't advance PAT. Whether it's a kick or a Two-Point conversion. Right when the defense gets possession, the ball is dead.

In HS and in college. A PAT may be returned for two points.

Thanks, got it.
That explains why I couldn't recall ever seeing it in the NFL.

No. The internet nailed it. I just copied and pasted. Oh well. I was still correct in agreeing with Cubbzz about the D-line being a weakness to the defense. I deserves some credit.
