I only ask the question because there seems to be an underlying tone at times that we should simply tag him as some seem to expect him to revert badly.

I'm sure some do. But most that do think that way we're probably never really sold on Kirk anyway. You know the ones, they use metrics like never beat a good team as the proof KC did not play that well and was given the job because gruden liked him better.

KC can't play better than he did over the last few games. That was as good as it can be played.

If he plays to that level, or better, then he will earn the contract of 20mil plus per season. If he doesn't, then we were wise to not over invest in him.

If I expected him to revert back to previous play. I'd say don't tag him or sign him long-term. Offer him a contract in line with whatever tier I thought he belonged on or let him walk and don't let the door hit him in the back.

Personally I think KC is legit. I'm just not sure if he's 20 mill a year for 5 - 7 years legit.

something similar to last season against better teams . 29 tds and 15 ints should be about right and about 4200 yds passing .

if he doesnt hit those numbers we will be a sub 500 team

right now before the draft i have us at 8-10 wins with a good off season making it 10

If you are a true Redskins fan, you want to see Kirk improve every facet of his game and continue to play at a high level. Reality is, he will most likely level off and become an above average QB and undisputed leader of the team which he had accomplished by the end of last year. The problem with tagging him is that we all know he is NOT a $20M QB right now and he is not elite right now. Management wants to progress to that level with his long term deal and by year 3 or 4, his pay will represent his hopeful elite status ($18-20M). Transition tag him and let him test his worth on the market then we'll talk...If another team wants to pay him ELITE money now then so be it...Scotty has said he will not ruin the franchise financially for one player and I believe that so we shall see.

i dont think we know what reality is at this point . if he an above avg qb at some point then we will be in great shape . we dont have many options unless you want to pay bradford . it will all work out in the end

Heads...we sign him long term for what may look like overpaying today but if he succeeds it will be underpaying. We look brilliant.

Tails...we sign him long term for what is overpaying him today and he busts. We look like idiots.

Then here is a whole other coin...we will call it coin 2

Heads...we tag him and he proves he is the freakin man and it costs us another 2-4 mil per season for him...we look like idiots.

Tails...we tag him and he fails or has an OK season...we look semi smart.
