Yes, and that is half a season with currently the best player in the NHL. And what does GAP have to do with Crosby?

It has to do with my original point, that you've bypassed.

Pittsburgh's defense was the problem, last year. They've corrected it. This is proven by the stats.

Who wants to bet we lose momentum here that we gained on the PK?

A lot, actually. Crosby is a good defensive player, but he alone cannot make the Penguins as good defensively as they've been. Having the second fewest goals against per game is a big deal. That means that the team, beyond Crosby, is very defensively responsible. And after all, defense wins championships.

The Penguins went to the Stanley Cup twice in a row because they were so good defensively. Gill and Scuderi moved on and the team suffered. Now Martin and Michalek have filled (and in my opinion, upgraded) those roles, and Letang has upgraded his defense, and the team can stop others from scoring now.

Very well, I will give you that.

Now explain this: :-)D)

Your top 5 goal scorers are
Sid with 32
Geno and Kunitz with 15
Goligoski and Dupuis with 9

Offensive depth :confused::)

Ill give you the D, too. (Mainly because you're Darkstone)

You don't need it if you stop opponents from scoring as proficiently as the Penguins do.

Also, defense is more sustainable than offensive production in the playoffs.

They won a cup with that same offensive depth, and played for a cup in another. Scoring wasn't the problem, and it never has been. It was defense.

Malkin is playing a very good game. This is all I want from him when he isn't scoring.

He's contributing as long as he's not turning the puck over, in my opinion.

EDIT: I should qualify this. Malkin's talent alone can wear down a defense and start opening things up for his teammates. Just by being on the ice, he's thus contributing positively. He just detracts from that when he presses and turns the puck over.

He's created turnovers, he's getting to the front of the net, he's passing well, and he's not shying away from the defensive zone. If he does those things well, the points will come. And if they don't, he's still one of the best players on the ice.
