Yeah, which is kinda funny because didn't they have "Kelly Hrudey night" at Staples Center earlier this season?

Also, I wonder how much the fine would be for McLellan using the word "cheated" when talking about the refs in the post-game presser. I'm thinking 10K.

So, who do the Sharks go with in game 7 between the pipes? I think you have to go back to Niemi (unless Arturs Irbe is available).

Stay with Sta. Win Game 7 & we move on to get swept in Round 2. Lose & TMac & Nemo are both gone next year.

I know I'm going to get some negative feedback from this, but the refs made the right call

I don't know why there is even an intent to blow rule, it's just stupid - the ref only put the whistle up just incase he had to call it, he put himself in the right place to see the puck, the puck kept moving and it was behind the goalie's skate - if the ref hadn't put himself in the right place and he was more behind, then he would have blew the whistle, but he put himself in the right spot - isn't that what you want the refs to do in that spot? Position theirselves on the right spot on the ice so they can see what's going on, he clearly saw the puck was still moving and then it went in and that's why he waited, waited and then pointed to the net as a goal - honestly, I don't even think that really was much of a push by Justin Williams - I've seen a lot worse pushes than that - puck was never covered, it just sat behind the goalie's skate

And Alex Stalock said it was a good goal as well so I'll take his word instead of the whiny coach who thinks his team was "cheated"

Watch the video. Stalock is completely stopped on the ice. The only contact made from Stalock's front is Williams and Stalock starts moving backwards. It was clearly Williams' push that moved Stalock back.

69.3 Contact Inside the Goal Crease - If an attacking player initiates
contact with a goalkeeper, incidental or otherwise, while the
goalkeeper is in his goal crease, and a goal is scored, the goal will be
disallowed.
If a goalkeeper, in the act of establishing his position within his
goal crease, initiates contact with an attacking player who is in the
goal crease, and this results in an impairment of the goalkeeper’s
ability to defend his goal, and a goal is scored, the goal will be
disallowed.
If, after any contact by a goalkeeper who is attempting to establish
position in his goal crease, the attacking player does not immediately
vacate his current position in the goal crease (i.e. give ground to the
goalkeeper), and a goal is scored, the goal will be disallowed. In all
such cases, whether or not a goal is scored, the attacking player will
receive a minor penalty for goalkeeper interference.
If an attacking player establishes a significant position within the
goal crease, so as to obstruct the goalkeeper’s vision and impair his
ability to defend his goal, and a goal is scored, the goal will be
disallowed.
For this purpose, a player “establishes a significant position within
the crease” when, in the Referee’s judgment, his body, or a
substantial portion thereof, is within the goal crease for more than an
instantaneous period of time.

69.6 [...]In the event that a goalkeeper has been pushed into the net
together with the puck by an attacking player after making a stop, the
goal will be disallowed. If applicable, appropriate penalties will be
assessed. If, however, in the opinion of the Referee, the attacking
player was pushed or otherwise fouled by a defending player causing
the goalkeeper to be pushed into the net together with the puck, the
goal can be permitted.

69.6 is the damning one. That's basically word for word what happened. Goalie made a stop, and the rule doesn't say the puck has to be frozen, and an offensive player pushed both the goalie and the puck into the net. Not allowed.

level 5 ref awe shucks ronnie managed to bring up rule 78.5 (Disallowed goals) right before cbc hurried on to the national

Disallowed Goals – Apparent goals shall be disallowed by the Referee and the appropriate announcement made by the Public Address Announcer for the following reasons

(ix) When a goalkeeper has been pushed into the net together with the puck after making a save.

ole boy ronnie was saying the league can get around it by saying stalock didnt get pushed into the net (only his skate ended up in the net) :L

as we have already talked about ... league will probably say Staylock wasnt pushed into the net per se lol

Where did Stalock say it was a good goal? I watched his post game interview and he said nothing of the sort there. In fact he said the goal should not have counted.

"I thought everybody in the building saw that it was an innocent shot from the side that ended up getting tipped in front and went between my legs," Stalock said. "From there, it was I guess lying behind my skates. They pushed it into the net, and it was a good goal."

i wouldnt rely on that to get a true picture of what Staylock thought of the goal ... he probably hadnt even seen the replay showing williams never touched the puck ... maybe he thought williams pushed (got a blade of his stick on) the puck into the net ... sounds like he was trying to take the blame like a good teammate

It was not behind his skates. It was under his pads. Not sure how the ref retained sight of it.

Should not have counted per the letter of the law.

the overhead view on this replay at the end of the video shows it was under his skate ... not pinned or anything ... just under his skate boot ... and slightly moving ... then the push

I'm okay with the whistle not being blown, because I think the puck is visible. My issue is the way it ended up in the net.

yah its there loose ... the intent to blow thing is a complete non issue

like i posted before ... Chris lee saw the puck loose ... the issue is that he never looked up to see what caused the puck to go into the net ... complete focus on the loose puck and he didnt catch the pitchfork into Staylock which cause the puck to go in
