That was a terrible 5 on 3. They spent most of the time slowly drifting backwards away from the Kings player. That epitomized "playing not to lose". I liked their effort 5v5 much better.
how is it cheated? was never under his control. it was just laying there at the back of his left skate. ref saw it all the way. Williams had every right to go after the puck.
As a fan of neither team, no way that goal should have counted. Still not the reason the Sharks are in a Game 7 now though
Nhl really needs to make all goals reviewable. pretty obvious the refs can't be relied on to make the right decisions
It does appear that the puck was lose under Stalock's left pad, which I completely missed live. However Williams never did knock the puck in with his stick, he pushed Stalock backward which pushed the puck into the net. That I believe is not allowed.
Will be curious to see the NHL's statement, if any. The NHL usually does the "lalala our refs our never wrong" song though so I wouldn't expect to hear anything with any substance to it.
I've actually been surprised how many times Fraser has said "the ref blew that call" (my words, not his) in his articles on TSN though.

true but i agree with sabresfan ... its always with the proviso "reffing is tough" and then he buries the ref/the refs call
level 5 ref awe shucks ronnie managed to bring up rule 78.5 (Disallowed goals) right before cbc hurried on to the national
Disallowed Goals – Apparent goals shall be disallowed by the Referee and the appropriate announcement made by the Public Address Announcer for the following reasons
(ix) When a goalkeeper has been pushed into the net together with the puck after making a save.
ole boy ronnie was saying the league can get around it by saying stalock didnt get pushed into the net (only his skate ended up in the net)
gotta get those page hits
better than aww shucks ronnie last night going over the 2-1 goal last night and reading the rule to the letter of the law about pusing the goalie into the net. he stated that the goalie has to physically GO into the net. Im sure Stalocks skates were pushed far enough into the net, but the reason to me on that outrage for that goal is not the forced push, it was for the fact it was covered and the ref couldnt see where that puck was and held his whistle. just garbage. NOT the reason they lost but certainly a good reason for them coming unglued.

So, who do the Sharks go with in game 7 between the pipes? I think you have to go back to Niemi (unless Arturs Irbe is available).
