Yeah, those guys were freaks. And your generation has Secretariat, who still owns all of the fastest times at each of the Triple Crown races.
Plus most had 2nd jobs to put food on the table. Supposedly Bradshaw sold cars, while these guys today are way overpaid

I think that was still the case for some even in the mid 1980s when I started following sports. Niners WR John Taylor sold cars at baseball legend Reggie Jackson's dealership.

Yeah it\s gotten way out pf hand. Average man can\t afford to take his family to a game. I mean 2-3 million a game to throw a football for 60 minutes where most people wont make that in a lifetime

That's capitalism. Very tiny supply of people talented enough to get the whole country to watch them.

That\s not true. You put in replacements of equal talent and people will watch. Some of my fondest games was my son's Pop Warner teams. His HS was #1 in state for 7 years in a row and Will Blackmon graduated from there and Kwity Paye played on my sons team, 2 year younger so sat on bench but played 4 years at Michigan and expected to be top 10 pick this upcoming draft. Deonte Harris who had that nice reurn today but called back for NO graduated with my son in Worcester Ma 5 ;6 kid, but quick and tough to tackle because of his height

No shit Raiders great, we had Russell Francis in NE back then. Like to meet up with Jack Tatum if he is still alive?

"replacements of EQUAL talent"? Who's talent equals Mahomes and Aaron Donald and Bernard Hopkins?

Just saying I dont watch a team because of a player or 2 but the team. I watched the shitty Pats in 70's 80's 90's and sure people still go to Jets and Jax games. I could give a rats ass about a Rodgers or Mahomes and only watch if best game on TV or playing my team

We're talking about a multi-billion dollar global business not why you personally watch.

My point is these people are better at what they do than anyone on Earth and there's billions of revenue because of them. Of course they make bank now. The world is different than when the old guys played.

The athletes in the 50's and 60''s like the Deacon Jones were more fun to watch and better than their peers but got paid proportionately. Sure they were underpaid and should have worked 2 jobs but 30-40 mill a year is fucking stupid

Those are hard to finish and end up even nastier when they get warm. Better get some Hennessy instead.
True but after 3-4 they could be boiling. I usually drink the good stuff Steel Reserve but Tatum doesn't deserve that green and yellow

Welcome to the modern world. The money is there, they get their share. Deacon and the rest were criminally underpaid. Hell the NFL still won't pay for some of the old timers' healthcare.
