The Caps didn't become a better team after they got OV?

1st round exits before OV.... and 1st round exits after OV. It's pretty much the same. ;)

You guys both make good points. I think Boss is right about it being what you do with the picks you have, finding value, having a good system, etc. But I also agree with IPW that one or two big players can make a huge impact.

So the Penguins didn't turn their franchise around when they drafted Crosby and Malkin?

The Blackhawks didn't have success after they drafted Kane?

The Bolts didn't get better after they got Stamkos?

The Caps didn't become a better team after they got OV?

Are you saying the Sabres wouldn't be a better team if they drafted any of the above players over who they took in the 1st round in those years?

I'm not saying that getting the 1st pick of the draft is going to work out 100%, but if a team doesn't have a chance to make the PO's, wouldn't you rather have them get the 1st pick rather than the 13th?

I wish you'd read that post I'm not getting into an hour long debate over it. The Hawks turned it around when Dollar Bill died, Fact. The Bolts won a cup before Stamkos was there. The Caps are in last place with OV right now.
Look at Edmonton.

Can't we agree to disagree?

Edit: Please !

Fine, I hope the Sabres win just enough again to miss the PO's, draft someone who doesn't make the team for 2 or 3 years, if ever, and have the Sabres continue to spin their tires, just so I can stay miserable as a fan.

See, and now Cody scores to make my wish of continuous mediocrity become a reality.

PP for the Caps.... let's go, boys.

Dumb penalty by Myers. Why hold when you're both just heading to the boards anyway?

Don't know if you caught the pre game show but they said that Kaleta went into an "Expletive filled rant" over being scratched tonight. So that's not a good thing.

Way to pick up the man standing alone in the slot. 2-1 Caps.

Caps on that PP made the Sabres look like chickens with their heads cut off.

That's goal #2, the Caps will get at least one more on Miller.

I honestly believe this is the worst Sabres team in their franchise history.

They need to blow up the core players and just start rebuilding.

What's the worse that can happen, they don't make the PO's or win the Cup?

Who are the core players you would keep? Do you trade away The Miller?

I would get rid of Vanek, Pommers, Stafford, and even Miller.

Miller is a great goalie, but he's getting older, has a high cap hit for a goalie, and won't benefit the Sabres if they are rebuilding.

I would rather have Miller spend his final years on a team that has a chance at winning the Cup, a la Hasek, than rotting in Buffalo.

Besides, goalies aren't what they use to be in the NHL. A lot of teams are having success with goalies that aren't considered elite, and they aren't getting paid 6+ million either.

See, goal #3 for the Caps.

His fault or not, Miller is going to give up at least 3 goals in a game this Season.
