Alex Smith in his last year with the Chiefs didn’t win playoff games, but by not starting Mahomes, it showed they were in win now mode. If Washington believes in TH, they are in win now mode with TH developing. Next year would be a prove it (prove enough) year for TH. If they don’t believe in TH, I still think Fitzpatrick can win some here and help the future with the rest of the team.

BTW: Taylor Heinicke is a good story, it was real nice to see him come in and contribute in that play-off game, but if you're looking for the next grocery store bagger to NFL star like Warner, Taylor Heinicke is not it. Actually he's been around and hasn't impressed enough to convince anyone that he's more than a one hit wonder. I slightly disagree, If TH wins the job, Fitz won't see the field unless TH gets hurt. (which he has a history of)
Fitz is here because he is the ultimate professional, competitor and will only help TH mature.
I'm sure there are some off-field, media situations TH may need advice in, and Fitz will likely be willing to help.
Besides Fitz was available. TH passed the eye test in a small sample, he was able to do it all, despite poor poor WR play in both games.
Fitz vs TH for the starting job is a win-win because the team will no doubt, play hard for both

Heinicke is not very likely to win the job. A game and a quarter does not prove 5 years of previous experience wrong. It is a great story and I would be fine if he won the job but I don't see that happening. Secondly I don't think he can stay on the field for 16 games. He acknowledged he was going to bulk up to try and keep from getting hurt.
