So what do you all think after year 2? Do you consider him a great QB or to have the potential to be one? Top 5? Top 10? Rather have him than Griff?

Personally, I still think Griff has greater potential upside, barring injury, than RW. It will be interesting seeing how he plays in the SB. He hasn't been that impressive for the last month or so. Of course, he has faced some premier defenses during that time frame which has to be accounted for. I also like his shiftiness in the pocket.

He is very smart. He doesn't attempt things that are out of his comfort zone and doesn't try and win the game himself. He never presses. Carroll manages him very well, also. He is willing to run, but only as a last resort and never puts himself in a situation where he takes a hit. Having said this, if he didn't have that defense, I'm sure he would have half the success he has had. He has trouble staying in the pocket only because he is so short, his vision is obstructed. I think he will have a good career, but there are others that will eventually be thought of as much better, including, RG3, Luck, Kaepernick and Cam. RG3 has a much high ceiling if he can stay healthy. If I had my choice, I would take RG3 over Wilson, but wouldn't be upset if I ended up with Wilson.

It's easy to be smart when you have a solid O-line, great RB and great defense.

His intelligence has nothing to do with his Oline or his defense. It does have something to do with him not feeling the pressure to press on every play.

The way they use him is smart. He isn't asked to win games and he doesn't throw the ball 40 or 50 times. They rely on D and running game with just enough of Russell Wilson to get by. He doesn't throw pics and he doesn't fumble the ball.

I heard Brock Huard say they practice off schedule plays. I can't say whether other teams do that but I would say that is smart. They get plays because he can keep them alive. If he doesn't have anything he throws it away, runs but slides before contact or hits a receiver who came open. Right now he is the best QB from his class. Don't know if he will be in 10 years but right now he is the best.

Shows what I know, I thought he was too short.

He's in a great system. His numbers are decent, he's extremely calm under pressure and is a winner. The L.O.B. is getting most of the credit anyway. Not sure if he could excel if Lynch went down for a long amount of time.
But just to be clear...he has been a winner, and that is what matters

He's very good. But gets way too much credit. He was very fortunate to had been drafted by a team that was "set." Reminds me a lot of Roethlisberger in 04'. Comparisons are very similar. Steelers & Seahawks loaded with Pro Bowlers on the defense & offensive line. I would give Seattle the edge on defense, though. Each had a strong-power running game. A solid, not spectacular, core of receivers. But what drove each team was their intimidating, ball busting defense. Wilson doesn't have to play good, as evident the past eight weeks, for the Seattle to win. On the other hand, Washington can't afford to fall behind or for Griffin to play poorly. They don't have enough talent on defense to keep the offense within reach. You can plug in Griffin, Luck, Kaepernick, or even Cutler as Seattle's QB and they'd still be successful. But, would Wilson be successful playing behind Washington's offensive line? Would he be effective with a defense that consistently ranks in the bottom third as Washington year after year? Very, very unlikely.

Wilson does some very nice things but he also gets bailed out frequently. Did you see the lob pass he gave to an undersized Harvin? That was stupid. It worked but it was stupid.

Russell Wilson Game By Game Stats and Performance - Seattle Seahawks - ESPN

Take a look at his game log for this season. He didn't make a lot of mistakes, but these numbers are hardly Brees or Manning like. Sounds like he is pretty much of a game manager right now.

There is no way that RG3 or even Cousins could operate in this manner with the current Skins team. Kind of hard to doe when 1.) your special teams start you inside the 20 yd line almost every time 2.) your defense & special teams spot the other team a few TDs & 3.) your O-line for the most part acts like a revolving door for the defense.

Wilson may have been somewhat more effective than RG3 with the Redskins. However - not by much & there is no way that he would have been as effective as he currently is with Seattle. Proves once again that this is a team sport.

QB poll thread on the general board for those interested in other poster's thoughts

http://www.sportshoopla.com/forums/...scussion/136610-best-qb-2012-draft-class.html

You would have to agree that Luck is the best of the group. Having said that - that General Board consists of quite a few idiots who are very opinionated. I would value the opinion of my dog over many of them. You also have to value RG3 relatively low at this time, but he still has quite a few years ahead of him & a chance to show that he is as good as all of those guys except for perhaps Luck.

I agree and voted Luck the best of the group SO FAR. I also agree that it is still way too early to define who will ultimately become the best of the group.

A word of caution on guys like Foles. He had an outstanding year. However - remember - we were all saying the same or better about RG3 last season. Let's see what happens when Foles has to play another year where teams have lots of tape on him & where perhaps teams start figuring out that offense. He also might experience bad luck in terms of injuries to either himself or his teammates.

Not saying that he will do worse, but only time will tell. It is insane to make a complete evaluation on young QBs simply based on one year (for better or worse).

it is all subject to change but right now that is how i would rank them . much to the chagrin of people who think i am the real RG2

right now in year 2 he is the 4th best qb . and if you ask me he would rank behind kaep and newton as well
