I apologize to the nation for Texas. I just saw this gem of a stat..
yards per rush in the Nation
Texas: #117 5.97 per
A&M: #118 6.00 per

the worst amongst AQ teams.. That is terrible. On the positive side

Texas State: #1 1.39 per
Baylor: #7 2.35 per

I am not sure whether to cry or laugh, when Baylor and Texas State are playing better defense.

OOH, do we want to go there at all. I seem to remember a top 5 team a couple of years ago that everyone said should have played in the title game that had a defense ranked EOY at 99th in the nation with an offense that was top 3, so where a team is ranked should not matter based on their defensive ranking if they are winning their games. Balance is nice to have, but sometimes a team can overcome that with one or the other being outstanding, or atleast better than their opponents each week.

Difference being that OSU team had respectable sabermetric numbers. Currently Texas is #87 and A&M is #91in S&P+ defense, so there is not a single bright spot to find

How many BCS conference schools have Baylor and Texas State played so far?

But that's just it - they lost. They have beaten Rice, that's it. And they gave up 31pts to them. This paired with the 108th ranked defense should not = a top 10 ranking. All they have proven is that they can beat Rice and cannot be Bama. I watched the game, and Bama was the much better team. Aggies had a few big plays and breaks and still lost. Top 10 is a joke.

It is way early for these stats to carry a lot of meaning. I just thought it was a funny in a the morbid way. I would put more weight on the terrible than the good right now, especially given the fact that most AQ schedules have featured a couple patsies.

This can be said of a lot of teams, as I said we had a team a few years ago that was ranked pretty highly and was being thought of for a title game shot, and many said they deserved it even after losing, but they lost to an ISU team who sucked out loud and was a 28 pt underdog. Rankings dont really matter all that much if you can play and I would stack that TAMU team against just about anybody in the country, defensive team or not, and they will win most games. They are a pretty great offensive team, they suck at defense, but one will overcome most teams, most games. It took all Alabama had to win that game, had their defense been like years past, maybe not so much, but in the end TAMU is legit and in my opinion worth a top 10 ranking at this point.

If they don't deserve it, then they will lose some more and fall out.

Not that complicated.

Rice, Sam Houston St, SMU, and UTEP are their OOC games.

Other than LSU, and maybe Ole Miss, they have to seriously worry about:

Ark, Vandy, Miss St, Mizzou....

This is exactly why the week 3 polls do matter. This is one of the worst schedules the country has seen. Embarrassing. But even though they are 2-1, with the 108th ranked D in the country - they are top 10 with this upcoming schedule.

I wonder if I started a thread that simply said "The sun is bright" how many posts it would take before Hizzle turned it into a bitchfest about A&M's ranking after week 3.

Well, as far as I'm concerned, The Texas and The Nebraska defenses could get in a fight with each other and both would lose..

They are in the top10 because of what they are expected to do.

You know, kinda like when Texas was ranked in the top25 in the preseason because of all the hype? Then when they didn't meet expectations, they were dropped out of it.

Funny how that works.

but, but, they had 19 starters coming back including da driver.

it was a "couldn't miss".

and Texas fan told us so.

over and over, and over.....

There was reason for that belief in 2013.

Mack Brown became infatuated with the power run after watching USC in the title game.
He further fell in love with it after playing Ohio State in the Fiesta.
After losing to Alabama, he decided to make a switch.

In 2010, Texas made a radical shift to a power run pro-style offense.
It was disastrous because most of the remaining personnel was leftover from the spread aerial attacks.

2011 was a step in the right direction.
Mack started changing the personnel to fit the "power run" pro-style.

2012 showed lots of what could be.
Especially in the last 6 games where Texas was really starting to show its run offense.

2013 was going to be the finished product.
We believed in 2013.

2013 was supposed to be the year when the 3 year transition to power-run was complete.

But suddenly Texas decided it wanted to be a tempo spread offense again????

I believed in 2013.
But I was led to believe it was going to be the extension of all the sweat equity of 2011 and 2012.

I strongly support Mack Brown.

But this is one thing that I cannot defend.

I actually believe that TEXAS should huddle up and run the ball like 2013 was promised.

Forget about this up-tempo nonsense that is leaving the defense without any rest.

Stick with the 2013 plan.
