We have probably seen the last of quarterback
Maty Mauk for a while, but the Missouri football
team's promising redshirt freshman quarterback
won't be forgotten anytime soon.
Mauk more than filled in admirably for injured
starter James Franklin over the past five weeks.
...
The SEC honored Mauk with its Freshman Player
of the Week award on Monday morning, his
second straight award and third in four weeks.
That's certainly not a shabby parting gift.

Maty Mauk returns to sideline after saving Mizzou's season

If I was Pinkel, I would still bring Mauk back in for obvious passing downs. Franklin still gives the team the best chance to win with his skill at the zone read and his experience but Mauk is more accurate on screens, bubble screens, slants and deep passes.

It's pretty hard for a QB to come in for one play and throw accurately. They wouldn't be in rhythm at all.

True. Ive just seen way too many high throws from Franklin that get our WRs lit up. But Franklin can read defenses better....he'll be the QB. I have no doubt. But Mauk better be ready because Franklin is really always injured

Do you actually watch Mizzou football?

Franklin was having a good season. Not sure pulling your future QB after he built up so much momentum is a good idea.

Tough call.

How did Missouri manage to avoid playing LSU, Alabama, and Auburn in the same season? Wow.

Ive been to 3 games this year though I was pretty smashed for the Toledo game. I've watched every game save the first half of the Kentucky game and I only heard the Murray St game because I was at the Lake of the Ozarks. I also missed parts of the South Carolina game because the World Series was on but I got the gist.

Franklin can read defenses better and can run between the tackles but I dont trust his arm or health. Mauk is the QB of the future.

Says the guy who posted his poll in the discussion thread and not the poll thread. :laugh3:
He also has Mizzou ranked ahead of Oregon and Stanford. I love our team but...eh..tough sell. Maybe if Franklin comes back at 100% and plays the best football of his career.

I find it odd Mutiger doesn't like Mauk. Every Mizzou fan I talk to likes this kid (just not for the rest of this year)

Mizzou is 10-0 right now if Franklin wasn't injured, he is clearly the best QB on the team.

The same way Alabama avoided playing Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, and Mizzou.

Conference schedules man.. look at Mizzou's schedule last year. Brutal.

Because I think Franklin is a much better QB I don't like Mauk? Makes no sense.

However, I do think he will be pushed next year by Eddie Printz. I have heard great things about Printz

You're putting the SC game on the QB and not the FG unit or the pass defense that gave big chunks of yards up to screen pass after screen pass? You could even put it on Pinkel which I know you have. Would Franklin have made a difference? Probably. Mizzou had to find a ways to lose that game and Shaw had to complete a 4th down pass to even be in that game.
