One thing is for sure, Torts doesn't have what it takes to coach the modern game.

And Slats doesn't know how to be a modern GM thats why he probably hired Torts they were perfect for each other.

Torts was a solid replacement for Renney at the time. Played similar styles of hockey, Torts was just able to advance the players and have them fit the mold better, Renney, could not.

Canucks look like they're going to go on a serious decline over the course of the next 4-5 years. All because they hired Torts. At least AV got them into the playoffs every year. Basically downgraded their coach and threw away their franchise.
