I predict the Royals to take the World series in 6 games. Based on the fact that they steal bases 3 times more than the Giants and that they strike out 20% less. They have good contact hitters and great defense as well. Mostly a young team with no superstars. But they have the ability to put the ball in play. They rely on everybody to play fundamental baseball. Their pitching staff has been a pleasant surprise considering their low payroll. Their manager knows how to use the talent in proper prospective. Royals in six!

Good call. I think the Royals are on a mission and they quietly put together a great team that didn't get much attention because it is a small market. I love it. With all of the things Bud Selig didn't so to so-called "help" small-market teams, this is an in-your-face to that supreme knucklehead.

Yeah, it would be good to see a team that hasn't won in a few decades take this series for all the reasons you stated, plus they beat two teams that won 96 and 98 games. These two wild card teams seem to be evenly matched based on regular season stats:

2014______BA___OBP___SLG___ERA
Giants___.255___.311___.388___3.50
Royals___.263___.314___.376___3.51

I think if 23-year old Bumgarner beats 32-year old Shields in this first game, SF may win in five or six games. The reverse could be said also. Shields had a 5.63 ERA in the postseason, giving up 10 R in 16 innings; 14-8 and 3.21 ERA in the regular season. Bumgarner was 2-1, 1.42 ERA in the postseason; 18-10, 2.98 in the regular season. Shields was 3.51 in home games. Bumgarner, 2.22 in away games. I'm anxious to see what happens. Did I say Orioles in 6 games? lol.:suds:
