I had Nova falling to Duke in the East. I thought Nova was over rated all year, and Duke is playing some good ball of late. Never did I think they would fall to Whisky though.

Villanova is not a program that can just come in when they're having an off game and still win by bullying a good but inferior team with size and athleticism. They have to outplay you. Like if UNC has an off game, I think they still beat a team like Wisconsin because they just have so much size and talent.

In that sense, I agree we are overrated, but if we had it going on, then it could have been another Final 4.

That's IMO, one of the reasons for the Nova early exits. We can't bully teams around like the UNCs, Dukes, Kansas. In that sense, the Big East Champion should be more like ... a 3 seed in my mind. But they don't seed on talent, they seed based on wins. In the same sense, I believe Gonzaga is slightly overrated this year. Doesn't mean they can't win if they get hot.

I'll also trade 3 early exits for a national title any day. But, it still sucks...

Nice assessment, and it sounds a lot like my Bruins this year.

Soft.

I also agree with your Gonzaga take, except I think they put a lot of emphasis on RPI more so than the wins. Gonzaga was the exception this year but win you only lose one game, that stands out. Still, that one loss, as I recall, was to a team they were favored to win by 25 points and they nearly lost by double digits at home! But if you know anything about these two schools, BYU always gives them trouble.

Well, I'm eager to see how them Bruins fair against Cincy, truth be told, I'd much rather have had USC playin spot and playing in the East.

No. 6 SMU then No. 4 Baylor?

Yeah, like I said the Committee puts a lot of weight on RPI.

Cincy is a 30 win No. 6 seed and then there is still Kentucky and UNC in the South.

The NBA Draft Express has him projected 29th. He is whole lot better than that IMHO. They have Giles 25th, Geeezzus

NBADraft.net has Giles going to #13, while they have John Collins @ #22. Not sure which one is more reliable. I know one of them sucks and the other one is viewed as decent, but I haven't had to pay attention to NBA mock drafts since 2010. Basically, I have no idea whats going on there.

That shoudl've been a foul on Landale on the floor.

He did an extended armbar.

That's supposedly a major point of emphasis this year and is supposed to be an automatic foul.

I won't argue that point, but at least that would have given St. Mary's another chance to play defense. Pretty hard to reconcile a blocking foul when the guy with the ball drives his shoulder into the defender's face.

I will say a lot of those "point of emphasis" fouls tend to disappear by tournament time. Recently it's been a point of emphasis to call hand checks and bumps on hedges and I see both of those all the time and they are almost never called.

UCLA is an interesting case in they have what I think is the best player in college. So, they will go as far as he takes them. And their offense is amazing, so they can literally run anybody off the court.

I'm probably also overreacting a bit. Sometimes you analyze sports to death and shit just happens. But especially in college hoops.

Xavier was the whipping boy of the Big East for over a month and they just obliterated an FSU team with 2 NBA 1st rounders and a 7 footer.

Somebody get this douche bag some tissues... Your team lost and nova got way more help from the refs than Wisconsin...just stop, you look too much like a whiny bitch already

I agree 100%. Nova had a significant boost from the refs with ticky tack fouls called on the Badgers which kept their two best players in Happ and Bronson out for a good portion of the game. I've seen at least 3 people on here that said Wisconsin benefited from the refs. Either those people had bets against the Badgers or they were high.

If anything the Badgers beat Nova and the refs.

I don't think I never been so nervous for a game like tonight. And it's the last game. What a way to crank up the anxiety.

The refs were extremely ticky-tack on both sides

They also made a few pretty bad calls, but it was against both teams. In the end they weren't great, but they were fair

Mentioning refs, Wichita State is absolutely fucked today, they've been way outspoken against the committee for their horrible seeding.

With the physical style they play I have the feeling that the refs will be ticky-tack on Wichita State while letting Kentucky be more physical

I thought the teams that got totally screwed by the refs yesterday were Saint Mary's and Northwestern. 3-4 terrible calls that killed Saint Mary's and a missed call and tech afterward that basically ended the Northwestern game

No way Gonzaga wins.....that game exposed them. A really good team like UNC, Duke, Louisville, Kansas or Kentucky will beat the crap out of them if they play like they did the other day.
